Never had such a horrendous experience in my life ... I used Groupon app and prepaid for meal for 2. I asked and was confirmed that it is okay to use it. After having my food I asked for bill to activate the code. 20 min later I still haven't received the bill. I noticed that the waiter is serving new customers, cleaning tables, chatting to her friend. I reminded her that I am waiting for my bill as I genuinely thought she forgot. The waiter told me in angry/annoyed voice that she will bring it to the table. At this point it made me feel quite unconformable. I received the bill, used the code and she left without saying a word. We assumed it's done and left the place. Moments later she chased us as we were out of the building saying that the code did not worked. She told us to speak to the manager. She tried the code again. This time it said its been used.. The manager told that they are experiencing issues with an app.. I do not believe it's been a case since I haven't been told that in the beginning of the service and the waitress left my table thinking it's been activated. I personally believe that the code wasn't been activated properly. Because when I got home and checked an app. It said that the deal been activated at this specific location and time. If manager spend couple of minutes investigating and not refusing to check. She would be able to detect that the deal was activated minutes ago in her restaurant. We been made to pay the full price in addition to what we paid already. As me and my partner don't like confrontation we just paid a nearly double for a meal which was supposed to be on offer. I felt so vulnerable and scammed, it's not as much about paying nearly double, it's about being chased as a criminal and my mood being ruined by hostile service and treatment. Read moreWent for Sunday lunch at 12.30. on 24th November. Pre-booked and reserved seats 3 days earlier, as we new it would be busy.
I arrived at 12.30 and it was not that busy. Was seated on a table for six ( 3 adults and 3 children) minus the baby highchair I asked for when we booked. Was seated in a very cramped position on bridge link. Within 30minutes the place was full. It took us 45 minutes to get the kids starters and they all came out at different times. And another 30 minutes for the main courses to arrive and these all arrived at different time. They forgot the 1 garlic bread we ordered and when we received it it was minus the garlic flavour? We tried to send it back but could not as we could not get attention of the waitress. Pizza and food was quite average. Had better from Morrisons packaged range. When we finally complained all we got was the garlic bread free.
Half way through the waiting period for the meal (when my toddler was crying of hunger ) we removed him to go for a walk and another waitress tried to steal our high chair ( presumably they had run out)
Overall the worst pizza express meal of my life. If they know they are going to be busy and could not cope, why don't they turn people away.?
When we tried to leave I could not get out as it was so busy I could not push my stroller through as there is no space. God knows what would happen if some one was in a wheelchair .
No apologies from staff and manager was not available! Spend your money...
