The Diner — Restaurant in Norwich

The power of the hot honey chicken sando courses through me as I write this review.

I was so anxious as to who was going to replace Danomey’s — and quickly proven that there was nothing to fear with this change. It’s a fab little diner with great theming and the guy behind the counter (and his fabulous chefs) know fried chicken intimately and deeply, I’m certain of it. I’ve not sampled much else other than some combination of chicken and carb, but the waffles are delicate and crisp, the syrup butter mix divine, pairing excellently with the streaky bacon. The fried chicken though, I’ll yell about it til the cows come home. Crispy, flaky dredge that’s deep and savoury in flavour, porcelain white, soft and flavoursome meat hidden beneath its buttermilk clothes. I can’t fault it, and when it’s paired with mac and cheese bites and hot honey — hoo boy!

Whoever handles the ubereats is fantastic and has a good sense of humour too. I’m weird and picky due to an ED called ARFID, but whenever I leave a note asking for something they cater to it often times with a little treat or message back. Legends.

If I was an onion enjoyer, I reckon the philly steak would be my go-to. It’s gaining popularity in the city but if the other dishes are anything to go off, I reckon the quality rivals many other iterations.

Cheese steak was ok flavour wise, despite being more so pulled beef rather than "steak", but the price is definitely too high considering the size etc. Same for waffles, very basic and small portion but quite pricey considering. Overall food was ok but they are clearly overpricing the food just because it is "American" so to speak, but would only consider paying a fraction of the price for this...

Highly recommend The Diner. Situated at the end of Magdalen Road, it offers great food with massive portions. Food is really tasty and served quick , atmosphere is laid-back and friendly. You get indoor and outdoor seating (you can enjoy full sunshine in the morning and afternoon). Pricing is very reasonable considering the portions' size and the tastiness 🤩😋😋.
