Was told this place used to be great but looks like it's gone downhill. Great interior but a hugely reduced menu and massively inflated prices. Over a tenner for a basic burger, 16.50 if you want a 'fancy' one and the pics on here of it don't look great.
We didn't actually get to eat anything because although someone was served food as I was queuing the bar staff were very mysterious about when they stopped serving and apparently I'd missed it. Fair enough, that happens. Was disappointed to see however that half the items on the reduced menu were out, making the choice extremely limited had they still been serving. Judging from other reviews here we just dodged an overpriced bullet there so not the issue.
Reason I'm giving 2 stars is 2 fold - the length of time it was taking to serve a very small number of customers basic drinks, and being told I couldn't have a snakebite as though I'd asked for illicit drugs. Would understand if the bar staff didn't know what it was but felt really judged by my choice of drink when it's just half and half lager and cider. Would have been happy to walk them through how to make it but a flat no when they have the 'ingredients' and an exchange of glances as if I'd just insulted their mothers was...
Read moreLong review alert So I’ve been into Bugman’s a few times over the last couple of months and have to say that the new menu is fantastic. I had stopped eating at Bugman’s for a while as the previous menu wasn’t all that healthy and very little variety, especially if you end up having to share your food with a little one. However, the new menu has so many new and interesting items on it, that I’ve felt compelled to go back and try new things each time and we haven’t been disappointed. The chicken tikka flatbreads are so nice, that I’d honestly pop to warhammer world just to eat those! The atmosphere in Bugman’s is always welcoming and with having a toddler with me, who is always running about. No one ever complains and the staff are always so super helpful. They’ve provided crayons and pictures to colour in, to extra cutlery etc if needed. Shout out to Sam and River who have been very helpful, welcoming and wore a smile even when it...
Read moreCame here a few years ago and whilst the place has a lovely aesthetic this time it was massively let down by the quality of the food, which is a shame because I had fond memories of the food being outstanding.
I came here on my birthday and had the bugmans burger because it sounded great on paper however that was the only thing good about it. The burger was possibly one of the worst things I have ever eaten, it just tasted of low quality processed burger meat. The pulled pork was tasteless and the bbq sauce was runny and so hot it was like trying to eat napalm. For nearly £17 for a burger I expected much, MUCH higher quality. I only managed to stomach less than half the burger before asking for a refund. I have to say though the staff were lovely and helpful and processed my refund without a problem. Was just a bit disappointed and felt let down on...
