Came here for a friend's hen do. The food was really lovely and it has a nice aesthetic and vibe. As we were a big party we had to go for the silver party menu, so I can't really comment too much about the variety of food. The food I had though was graat - especially the Chocolate Gelato, which was rich & dark with a rich chocolate sauce it was absolutely delicious!!! 👌
The main waiter who served us was really friendly and enthusiastic. It can't have been easy serving such a huge party but he did a good job anyway (there were a few occasions we had to remind them of drinks we had ordered but they were apologetic whenever that happened and resolved it promptly)
It was a bit of a nightmare at the the end though because they took a really long time to get our bill to us and we had a reservation for another place which we ended up having to call to change the time of and had to send a couple of the party there to ensure we didn't lose our table. When we did get the bill, they hadn't taken off the deposit we had all paid in advance and they asked us if we could pay in full and they would refund the deposit later, which was a bit unreasable with a £200 deposit. In the end, they agreed to put it back through and deduct the deposit, which took even longer so they mother of the bride stayed behind to sort the bill so that everyone else could get to the next place we had booked, as it was past 10pm by this point.
Apart from the hiccup at the end, and the length of time it took overall, it was still a really nice meal and a fairly pleasant...
Read moreAs a group we go to a Nottingham restaurant once a month and having enjoyed our previous visit a few months earlier we had booked in again. When we arrived we were told that there were 8 items unavailable that evening also the prices of wines had risen dramatically since our last visit with most of them in the £30-£50 range. This seems an excessive mark up and at that point we discussed leaving but as we had had to give our credit card details and were unlikely to get in at another restaurant at such short notice we stayed. Because of the prices we only ordered 1 bottle of wine with the rest of the group having beer or tap water. If the wine had been in the mid £20 range we would probably have ordered 3. Having said all that the food was excellent and the service great. The only other problem was that was that all the plates were cold. It seems such a basic thing – why spoil good food by serving it on cold plates so that you must eat it quickly before it goes cold?? Will we be going back? The jury still remains out.
Response from the owner 2 weeks ago We’re so sorry to hear your visit wasn’t up to our usual high standards, please email us on feedbacknottingham@gustorestaurants.uk.com so we can get in touch and discuss this further. 17th December Update: I contacted Gusto as requested 2 weeks ago but I’ve not had any contact from them so it was obviously just a PR exercise and they’re not really bothered about...
Read moreIf I could give 100 stars, I would. Let me tell you about the divine experience that was our encounter with Ben a waiter at this Italian restaurant. We came in for a dessert, just a sticky toffee pudding and left feeling on top of the world.
The pudding? Oh it wasn’t just a dessert. It was a revelation. A golden, toffee drenched miracle, likely kissed by angels, and lovingly blessed by a thousand grandmothers. Every bite transported us closer to enlightenment.
This is a tribute to Ben.
Ben isn’t a waiter. Ben is an experience. A walking, talking, dessert-delivering legend. Funny without trying, kind without limit, and so radiant with charm he could melt gelato with a glance. He didn’t just serve us, he serenaded our souls. When he brought that sticky toffee pudding to the table, it felt like the opening scene of a Broadway show. Cue lights. Cue orchestra. Cue Ben.
He didn’t just refill our water—he refilled our faith in humanity. He didn’t just ask how the dessert was he genuinely cared with the tender warmth of a lifelong friend. He didn’t just make us laugh—he gave us abs from joy.
We came in strangers. We left believers. Believers in Ben. If there’s one reason to go to this restaurant (even if you don’t like Italian food), it’s to have Ben bring you the sticky toffee pudding that will change your life.
Ben, if you’re reading this — never stop. The world doesn’t deserve you, but, we are oh so grateful...
