The Fox — Restaurant in Nottingham

Visited for the first time today as was in the local area.

The outside is very welcoming and the staff on arrival were also pleasant.

We wanted to have food but noticed no menus on the tables, the website, Facebook has a banner image that says Greene King plus so does the sign post outside, but don't think it's a Greene King anymore, none the less we were seated and a member of staff came over with some menus (website had some 241 offers but these weren't on the menu we were given).

The staff were very nice and the atmosphere in the place was warm and relaxed, it had that feel like you were at a restaurant on holiday with the menus being brought out like that , which made me smile.

We ordered the cottage pie and beef Lasagne, both came out in a timely manner and were piping hot, the food was lovely to very well cooked these were also quite large portion ls for the price, we would expected to pay more.

Had an apple pie for dessert which was very soft and warm, better than dessert I've had from other places near by or in the City centre.

Went in for a funeral wake 06/04/2022. Only went there as family recommended the pub. I got engaged there years ago and had a party. Great owners them days... Heard good reviews about it so went with the flow of recommendations. What idiots we were. The landlord does not know what fun is. Yes swearing out of order but for two cousins enjoying themselves to be threatened by the landlord when nothing ‘really’ untowards happened and for him to rebuke parents with nastiness is beyond belief….. please think again before having a wake or celebration at the fox pub, Valley Rd in case of a minor incident. Landlord ‘must have been on a ‘mmenstral’… Lest be said for he was rude in the process. Think about the money that was spent in his pub with the amount of family that was there from 2:30 - 6pm. No appreciation and he spoilt what was a sad celebration……… well done landlord of the Fox, Valley Road, Basford, Nottingham…. I certainly won’t be...

Absolutely awful. Went for the first time a few years ago and the manager was really rude so I didn't go back. Decided to give it another try last week because of the eat out scheme and was extremely disappointed. Me and my partner both booked a table and didn't realise until we got there. As soon as we realised we apologies profusely and explained that it was an accident. When my boyfriend went to order his meal the manager proceeded to shout at him for the mistake. After a few cross words we were planning on leaving when the manager chucked us out. In addition to this the social distancing was dreadful!
