Not even worth a single star actually. Extremely poor service. Waitresses very rude. This was one of the worst experiences ever.
Started off with them telling us that there's no 12inch pizzas for us to share. So had to order smaller pizzas - which of course meant they were more expensive for the whole group of us. Then when we tried to pay for our bill; REFUSED to accept card payments - they could have told us that earlier, when we were ordering. So we were forced to pay by cash. I had a £50 note. They then state that they do not have enough change! We had to scramble through our purses and wallets for smaller change. They STILL have no change apparently for a few pounds/pennies! By which time all of us in our group were frustrated. Waitresses were so rude; and their tone were extremely condescending. I sincerely believe they were hoping we'll just leave the few pounds change and call it quits. Then when we asked for a receipt, we were told NO RECEIPTS. Their machine is broken!!! How can a business charge and taken money; yet refuse to provide a receipt?!?! It all sounds very dodgy. We were frustrated but at no point in time were we rude; yet the waitress said in a rude and condescending tone, for us NOT TO BE RUDE. The irony of it is hard to believe. She was the rude one; yet had the gall to accuse us of that!
In the end, the same waitress had the cheek to tell me that my £50 note won't have been accepted there anyway as it's not legal tender??? I got that from a BANK. How in the world is that not legal tender, I have no idea. I think by then, they realised that we were not going to leave any tips; and she was just trying to be difficult .
Totally unimpressed by the whole situation. Very unprofessional behaviours & food there is not good enough for the grief we got eating there!
Ridiculous! I would avoid Cafe Ethos...
Read moreAbsolutely awful. Reserved a table on the website 24 hours ahead, as requested. Got a taxi to Caffe Ethos and went in. There was a party going on and seemingly consuming all the staffs time. When we spoke to someone about our reservation, the response was "oh I haven't even looked at reservations yet". We perched on a table that was being used as part of the party, for a few minutes before deciding it was clear we were not going to get served any time soon and, that it was not going to be an enjoyable place to eat anyway. So we got up to leave and we left a number with a member of staff who said they would call us the next day. They did not call. So we called and asked if the expiry date of our groupon voucher could be extended because there was only a week left on it and we may not be able to make it in time. The person said they could not authorise this and they would get someone to call us back. They did not call. So we called back and began to explain to a member of staff, who then hung up on me. I got in touch with groupon who promptly cancelled the purchase and refunded me. I rarely leave reviews for anything, but this experience was utterly terrible and so I felt compelled to do so. Would not step foot in the...
Read moreSo disappointed. The lady at the door greeted us with "I am on my break - I did not get to finish my break", which she did not let us forget throughout our meal. I wish she had asked us to walk around the block and return 10 minutes later if we were too early.
She then refused to make any changes to the menu - which was different to the menu provided on the website, no paninis etc. She seemed to think that it wasn't the Caffe's problem that the wrong menu was published online!
We had to rearrange the tables and chairs for our large party, despite having booked for 12 people way in advance.
My overall feeling was that they shouldn't accept a large booking if they can't or don't want to cope with it.
On the plus side, the food was very nice on the whole and the service of the food was very efficient and timely. We just felt very unwelcome unfortunately due to the lady at the front.
This is definitely more a cafe than a restaurant, contrary to...
