Westgate Oxford — Local services in Oxford

Beautiful shops, fantastic restaurants, park and ride is easily accessible and very frequent, but the open air is definitely a huge drawback. It was so cold. Yes the shops are lovely and warm - coat off, outside again, coat hat etc on. It feels like the budget lacked so that the whole complex was not able to be built in a warm covered environment. I did look at the images before I left, and thought the complex was under cover. I cannot imagine why this was not so, it would have been a delight to spend all day shopping, and enjoying the fantastic restaurants, but due to the open air, I would not use this in the cooler, cold, windy or wetter months of the year. It was also a bit confusing why the walkways do not link, so you could walk to either side of the shops, without back tracking. Same with the restaurants, there were no linking walkways, again you had to back track - part of the joy is walking and comparing all shops and restaurants. Sitting on a warm patio outside a restaurant is fantastic. But here you are open to the elements. But if you are one who does not mind shopping in the outside - it certainly does have beautiful shops and beautiful...

Walking round Westgate is like flicking through every lifestyle you’ll never actually live. One minute you’re in John Lewis stroking toasters you can’t afford, next you’re in Milkshake Lab wondering if rainbow sprinkles count as one of your five-a-day. There’s high fashion, low fashion, and whatever Smiggle is meant to be.

But let’s be honest: the gravitational centre of this whole mall is Ann Summers. You can spend twenty minutes pretending to browse candles in Hotel Chocolat, but everyone knows you’re just psyching yourself up to leg it past the mannequins in suspicious lace. It’s like Westgate’s naughty corner—wedged between wholesome shops like The Body Shop and Oliver Bonas, quietly daring you to buy something that definitely can’t be returned to Primark.

It’s the balance that makes the place work: Ted Baker for the wedding suit, Ann Summers for the honeymoon. Sainsbury’s for the weekly shop, Krispy Kreme for the regret. Four stars, because while you may not always find what you came for, you’ll definitely leave with a story… or at least a...

We have visited Westgate Oxford numerous times but this is the first time I thought of reviewing the centre. The main attraction ti the shopping centre is the vast number of stores and the ease of parking as it's a hassle finding parking in Oxford. Better yet they have around 50 EV parking spots as well which make it so convenient. However, I'd say the parking charges are over the top as it's more expensive than parking at shopping centres in Lonodn. The spacious layout makes navigation easy although it's unavoidable to bump into people at peak hours. The top floor is full of various restaurants catering various cuisines. The cinema complex provides entertainment options for all ages. The center's cleanliness and well-maintained facilities add to the overall positive impression.
