Cagney's Cafe — Restaurant in Oxford

There was lots to love here today. Firstly, and for reasons outside the scope of this review, I was miserable before I walked in, having been caught in the rain twice on my motorbike en-route to Oxford. Within seconds of walking in, that was changed by the upbeat and welcoming nature of the host, who despite towards the end of their working day, did not demonstrate the exhaustion or fatigue you might find in similar establishments... their energy for their place of work was exemplary. I enjoyed a great cup of tea, and a sandwich made to order, despite the fact that, at least to appearance, the kitchen was winding down for the day... not a problem!

I'd like to have spent more time here, and if I was local, I would surely make a regular stop, as I was told, many local families and friends do

Most days i pass Cagneys and most days people are smoking at the tables at the front of the cafe, now the whole of Cowley centre is a non smoking area. Today i went in and politely pointed out to the owner that people were smoking at his tables ! Here is his reply " It has nothing too do with me" i replied "It does sir as its your premises" his answer to this was in a very raised voice was " Get out of my premises and you are never to come back" !!! I went to the cowley centre's security and a security man went up to the smoking persons and told them to stop smoking !! I have now spoken to the enviromental health officers and they will now deal with this. Would i recommend this cafe...

I would userally give this place a 5 star, as I used to go here a few times a week however my last visit was the last time! The male manager with the glasses is extremely rude. I ordered a breakfast and asked for scrambled egg instead they gave me yokey eggs. I said to the manager it was wrong and he was very rude said what do you expect me to do and asked me if I was being funny! The two ladies that userally work there and the cook Terry are very friendly and always very chatty plus the food is good but I was not happy with my last visit and I wouldn't normally go online and give a bad review but because the man was so...
