I booked a table at this restaurant online on Saturday 22nd June for 5:30pm for 2 people. I recieved an automated text message advising the table was booked. My husband and I turned up at the restaurant at 5:30pm, there were no customers in the restaurant at all. I advised I booked the table online, the man serving asked if it was indefinitely this restaurant as there is another Indian Restaurant down the road, I said unless that one is Jamals, I have definitely booked it here. This continued for several minutes, in a completely empty restaurant. He then said oh yes I have found the booking. We then asked for some water and papadums to start. I asked if the papadums came with dips, to which he replied as if I were stupid that they don't, and they aren't free, which it does not state on the menu. My Husband and I were absolutely appalled by the disgusting service we recieved within the 5 minutes we had sat there. The man, whose name I wish I had took, should not be working with the public. His attitude was abysmal. If indeed he was the owner, well, I have no doubt he will have the boards up at the window VERY VERY soon. Do not go this...
Read moreRED FLAG for ppl who expect respect and services as part of their dining experiences. As a regular here(no more), I used to take friends to Jamal's, for I had to say the food is good despite average service. Today the two staff truly CROSSED THE LINE by showing me and a visiting scholar, who wished to use a prepaid voucher of Jamal's provided by her institute, to a TINY UNPRESENTABLE TABLE AT A STORAGE CORNER in the dark inner area at 5.30 pm weekday when there were only two tables taken in the front area in the entire restaurant. "EAT HERE OR LEAVE HERE BECAUSE YOU ARE USING A VOUCHER" is what the staff went. Not to ruin the night of the visiting scholar, I requested a window seat as I was not using any voucher. The staff reluctantly led us to a window seat but left "EAT FAST". As we walked out in shock and extreme discomfort, a staff came and said "I'm sorry it's not me it's him (the other staff)". I had said nothing but obviously the staff knew they were behaving extremely wrong. We had a great...
Read moreThis is the worst place to come if you're in a large group of 10-15. The least accommodating restaurant I have ever been to. We went for the set menu as it was supposed to be simpler. Paid £15 each and their were no starters, no drinks, no dessert, which is a pathetic excuse for a set menu. On top of that the manager brought over a container to put the cash in as soon as we sat down, as if we were going to run away without paying.
When the food did come out we had to ration it out as it was a small quantity, leaving a restaurant hungry doesn't make sense? When we did ask for more food they refused. For £15 I usually leave a curry house stuffed with a smile on my face. On top of that the waiter we had was extremely rude and condescending.
If you want to have a good time with people do not bring them here as you will be embarrassed that you...
