Outwardly the restaurant was inviting and seemed clean. Staff very active and keen to help. The food seemed quite pricey.. not cheap but borderline "how much!?" But you assume the food must be good or made fresh etc so the price will be justified. It took over 25 minutes for the food to arrive, when it did.. It was quite anti climactic. The £4.00 cheesy garlic bread was just 3 slices that looked like they came from aldi. The chunky chips tasted frozen and dry. As we were sat in the restaurant for about 40 minutes total i had a chance to look at things with more than a passing glance. The carpet seriously needs a deep clean or replaced and the cupboards/units look very worn down. But thats just being very nit picky. Time occurs and things wear down. The overall feel of the restaurant was warm and inviting. It got very full just as we were leaving. Staff seemed to cope well with the sudden shift from quiet to chaos! I wasn't massively impressed with the food but we are thinking of ordering desert as room service (this comes from the restaurant) - perhaps there will be some redemption!? We shall see!

Several times whilst on work duties down in Plymouth and staying at the Future Inn I have had the misfortune to experience your dining service and food. I say several times, but I can assure you there eill be no more times after my latest experience at your star rated restaurant! I ordered for a main x2 chicken wing starters along with some chips and explicitly asked if I could possibly have the chicken wings as a main. The reply was yes sir Well, what was served to me was x6 overcooked n dried out wings with hardly any meat on them to eat! The salad that accompanied the so called wings saved the meal along eutb the bowl of chips! When I challenged the restaurant person re the state of the wings and the numbers , wanting to confirm that if I had ordered just a chicken wings starter I would only be served x3 for £9..that's £3 for each pathetic wing I was served I was astounded!! Disappointed and disgusted! How you get your star ratings are beyond my comprehension!! But I will not be dining in your restaurant for evening meals in my future stays at that hotel.

Staying on site in the future Inn hotel, I thought I give the restaurant another go after a poor experience a few years ago. Mistake. It was even worse than last time. Should have guessed from the few people eating there, and even more scarce staff. The staff there were, seemed to spend most time mucking about in the kitchen judging by the noise. Not wanting the usual burger and chips, I decided to try the monkfish curry, after all this place claims (laughably) to be the taste of the West Country. It was dreadful, rice dumped, watery sauce, tasteless fish. No poppadoms , ‘ We’ve run out’. I think the waitress knew it was bad, she saw the look on my face and quickly offered an alternative. Service was very slow, nearly 50 minutes for the curry. Sadly Fishbone has not changed at all from my last poor experience.

If there was an option not to leave a star, I would do so. Feeling very hungry this morning on the way into work, a colleague and I decided to drop in to the Fishbone for a full English. After being asked twice by reception what rooms we were in, we were directed to the seating area being told that' due to a lack of guests, the food was going to be 'made fresh' explaining the absence of self service. It was also pointed out we'd be charged £10.00 each for our respective 'full english'. Taking a pick from the juices positioned by the coffee machine, I poured myself what looked like cloudy apple juice, which upon initial taste, left me feeling like I'd been administered citric acid by a sadistic dentist. Giving the establishment the benefit of the doubt, I selected the 'cafe latte' button on the coffee machine in the hope the injection of 'fresh' bean and milk would set me in the right direction. I was wrong. The coffee ejected from its spout in less than 2 seconds, an instant coffee without the familiar indications of fresh bean being ground, or steam on the rise from the boil. Ones doubts began to materialise looking at the watery 'froth' sitting on the topside, which again when tasting, reminded me of the sadistic dentist. I decided to leave the rest for Santa. After what was a reasonable wait time, we were given our 'full English'. Thinking this may be a repeat of my already painful ride, I toyed with the mushroom supposing this could be an enemy of ones inner workings. Teeth sinking in with difficulty, they penetrated the outer skin, travelling with effort into its core. After this gruesome experience, I played with the bacon, at which point my colleague said; 'if they are making this fresh like they told us, why would the bacon be this temperature?' That was it. The rest was parked on the plate, my stomach churning and mouth reeling from the pain and shock. Fishbone, you've made me do something I've never done before. Leave a review. I hope this warns other travelers to the area to avoid with purpose. Daylight robbery at £10.00 was bad enough, but the rest was simply...

Go elsewhere. Food was average at best, chicken burger was barely crispy (advertised as such), and had a spice blend that was not standard and not mentioned. Fish and chips was fine. The batter they use for frying is bland as hell, did not taste good especially on the onion rings, no seasoning whatsoever. The service was specifically bad, we got a walk in table but turns out they were turning people away including reserved hotel guests after us due to low staffing despite 7 visible staff members throughout our whole visit (place stunk of bad management). Server seemed uninterested, took 40 minutes for only mains to arrive with no starter. No update at any point. Food came, as above, and the next time we were asked how anything was, was as we were paying the bill, which we had to ask for. This was the first time ever that I have paid a bill while our used leftover plates were still on the table. Think it gets better? No. I'm aware of people who complain without saying anything to the restaurant can be frustrating, but we said our food comments to our waitress when they asked, but again they asked how everything was for the first time as she handed me the card machine to pay to leave and that was that, no apology no nothing. The cherry on top was the glass that broke a few tables over, and rather than staying near the breakage and cleaning it up, one staff member brought out what was needed and when the customer who it happened to offered to clean it up while they "continued serving" she actually let her do it, he gave the broom and bag to her and let the customer clean up broken glass after leaving it unattended for a few minutes, you can smell the workplace accident waiting to happen. Came for the 3 course for £26 we got one course each and didn't dare stay for desert under threat of another 40 minute wait. One course each, 1 soft drink, and 1 side each came to over £40 for sub par quality. Really not worth it, you can actually have better food and service at a...
