UPDATE - Bought the ice drinks yesterday which were really quite nice.
Ate here twice today, Breakfast and Dinner. As a family, we had been looking forward to this opening for months!
Breakfast- Our order was 2x big breakfast wraps, a bagel with cream creese, 20 timbits, a white hot chocolate and a cappuccino.
Pros White hot chocolate 😍 happy to say its the best one I've had in a very long time. Cappuccino my husband was more than happy to drink it without sugar, which is saying something as he's normally a sugar fiend. Bagel and cream cheese my toddler really enjoyed this and ate all of it.
Cons The big breakfast wraps. I took one bite and put it straight in the bin. Something in it turned to powder in my mouth and it tasted like I was eating flour rather than actual food! Timbits- they caused a lot of arguments in our household, even more so since we returned from having dinner to find that we were given 10 x chocolate ones. We've both agreed we'll stick to Krispy Kreme in the future.
Dinner Our order was Chicken Stack meal, Double bacon burger meal and kids chicken tenders meal, 3 x sweet chilli dips, maple milkshake and strawberry milkshake.
Pros Double bacon burger was nice, but wouldn't hurry back for it.
Cons Upon ordering Chicken Stack meal, we were asked if we wanted to add bacon to it for an additional price (fair enough) Yes please! Until we discovered upon returning home that there was no bacon in it. Lattice fries for the adult meals were uncooked in the middle, both of us commented on it. And the kids meal had 4 lattice fries... 4! We didn't even see the dips as we didn't recieve them. Then comes the milkshakes, we were super excited for these and thought they would be a redeeming point after hearing many good things from friends and family. Don't even bother ordering the flavoured milk, there's no shake to it in the slightest.
We'll return to get hot drinks and give them another shot at food (which took my husband a full half an hour to persuade me) as in my husbands words "it's their first day opening, they have a few kinks to work out" But I don't think it's just "kinks" unfortunately. KFC and McDonald's which are both within walking distance of Tim Hortons are...
Read moreUpon first impressions the restaurant looks inviting charming and comfortable, less school dinner hall layout like the others and more on par with a coffee shop ,with IKEA style tables and chairs which you can really relax in. Had a nice ambience of mood lighting furnishing and music. However really surprised at the low quality of the food considering this is a well known Canadian chain I’d of expected higher standards especially as you need to take out a mortgage to eat there! Easy to order on the touch screen so you can add or take away food depending on your taste and budget. £8 for a meal deal, when you are a family of 4 is eye watering though and something I’ll never forget, but as it’s a new concept to the uk thought we’d give it a shot as I know their fresh brew coffee is pretty good. So much choice on the menu you often don’t know where to start, but it’s pot luck on getting something you’ll like, sitting there thinking maybe should of made the effort to do the full circuit on Tavistock road just to have what we know best, but we thought we would live and learn, nothing ventured nothing gained. What was surprising was the place was half empty, so this should of been a massive clue. The burgers were like another comment said, kebab shop / fairground quality, spongy mushy (beef?) patties, cheap tasting, even similar to a snacksters micro burger!! Patties were too big for the bun and slipping out into the strange piece of foil it was wrapped in. Weird flavourless meat couldn’t work out if they needed more seasoning, so threw a load of salt on them. Supermarket lattice fries which were all stuck together, milkshakes which are synthetic tasting, watery as full of slushy ice which will give you stomach freeze. If the food wasn’t smothered in sauce and salt it would of been almost inedible, family disappointed and cursing us for not eating at other choices close by, really hoped this place would be a little taste of Canada...
Read moreFood is decent but service is abysmal. The first time I went in it took them nearly 10 minutes to produce two basic burgers and the waffle fries were cold despite multiple members of staff stood doing seemingly nothing. Prices are expensive but I would expect this for a brand like Tim Hortons.
However, my second experience was far far worse and I won't be going back any time soon.
I enter and choose a selection of timbits as a box of 20. Once I've selected these and I've paid for my order, the woman taking my order simply walks away and does not return for a couple minutes. Eventually I catch the eye of someone cleaning the kitchen floor by staring down staff until someone comes over. He comes over and asks if I'm waiting for my order "yes I am" I say, he then asks what the order is. I tell him it's the box of timbits on the order screen and I point to it myself. He then called back to the kitchen "is anybody doing this order up?" and the voice of the woman who served me and walked away shouts back "yeah". However this caught the attention of a man who seemed to be the shift manager and without a word to me in apology or any sort of acknowledgement of me standing there starts doing up my order instead. The lady who walked away before now returns and starts doing my order as well so now two people are doing my order! I then FINALLY after what must have been 15 minutes of waiting recieved my order of timbits that had been sat on the front shelf the entire time.
I am not one to leave reviews ever, but twice now I have had some of the worst fast food service experience I have ever had. I have worked in fast food, I understand it's terrible. Of course you don't want to do the work, but you can't treat customers this bad on a regular daytime service.
I won't be...
