We visited Jack Rabbit last night 31/05/2025 for dinner. We had reserved a table for dinner and upon arrival we were not met by any staff as we waited 5 minutes and were not acknowledged by the numerous waitresses who passed us, my partner decided to grab menus and find us our own table. As we passed the bar I said to a staff member that we had been waiting and were going seat ourselves, she only then came to find our reservation and seat us, who knows how long we would have waited! That being said, after we were seated, we received excellent service from our waiter Joseph, who was so friendly and went above and beyond. The food was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and desserts. Joseph even arranged an extra jug of custard for my partner as when he ordered his crumble he jokingly asked for 'lashings' of custard! We even noted as we was finished of our drinks after our meal how hard working Joseph was, tidying up and restocking the bar etc while other waitresses seemed to just be hanging about not doing much. We would highly recommend The Jack Rabbit for the chefs great food and lovely atmosphere, but their welcome hospitality needs improvement.

The jack rabbit is a more up market pub. Set near Derriford hospital just off a main roundabout. A nice looking pub from the outside. Has plenty of parking to the rear with disabled parking areas. Be sure to register your car when you arrive or you will receive a penalty. When you go in its a well presented interior clean and spacious. There is plenty of seating but it might be advisable to book first. A good selection of more up market pub food. This you may find reflected in the price. There are a good selection of drinks of all types to choose from. Tables are clean and well presented. Service was ok, I say ok because I felt the server looked like she could have been a little more enthusiastic and smiled a bit. The food I enjoyed, I thought it was well done and to my taste. No complaint there from me. Toilets were very clean and tidy. There is I believe seating outside if it ever stops raining lol. All in all not a bad experience. Worth a visit.

26/12/22 - Part of the Vintage Inns stable and on the Cask Marque Ale Trail. Very busy with meals on this day, but that wasn't a problem for me, I only wanted to have a pint and scan the Certificate. Getting my request to scan the Certificate was the first problem with the front of house person who seemed to be the manager. Neither heor any of the bar staff had any knowledge of the biggest ale trail in the world. After several repetitions, a faint memory seemed to flower in the fellow, and I was shown where the Accreditation Certificate was on display. To my comment "Has nobody else done this?" He said, no, not to his knowledge, its clearly an 'old fashioned idea' Clearly, both he and his staff need to be put in the Rembrandt quickly. As for the beer, Timothy Taylors 4.3% abv - it was in excellent condition. So at least the cellar man knows what he's doing, if not why 😀

Appalling!

The worst dining experience I have ever had. I booked well in advance for my parents ruby wedding anniversary, party of 6 adults and one child. The first issue was despite booking ahead we had to wait over 10 minutes for our table to be ready. With nowhere to sit and a 4 year old in tow, this was quite frustrating.

The next issue was availability of vegetarian options. We were told the chickpea burger wasn’t available so ordered a wellington. When the wellington arrived it was missing the pastry.

We had to wait around 75 minutes for our food. Having to ask the waitress several times. Eventually they bought out the children’s meal and underbaked pizza with carrot sticks the carrots weren’t even peeled!

I ordered steak, what I was presented with was a shrivelled mess really tough and overcooked. I was supposed to have triple cooked chips with this but received skin on fries that were rock hard and tasted awful. (Other diners had triples cooked chips) my side order of onion rings was forgotten and when it arrived it was undercooked, batter was raw and onion was raw. I ended up so dissatisfied with this meal that I sent it back and received a refund ( I have never sent food back)

Onto the roast dinners. Meat over cooked, vegetables were under cooked, very disappointing having waited as long as we did.

3 people ordered dessert banoffee choux was undercooked and tasted bad.

My son wanted an fruit ice lolly even this was covered in ice as if it had been in a freezer for years, tasted awful. At this point I thought Ant and Dec were going to appear from somewhere!

Overall pretty bad, ruined my parents anniversary, we will never get that back, only form of compensation was for the steak which I didn’t eat. No additional compensation despite the wait and the fact that one of us didn’t...

A series of unfortunate events! Walked in and asked for a table - told none available except for the bar area if one became available. Stood at the bar and booked a table online for 10 minutes later. What a shame the waitress was unable to reserve a table for us for 10 minutes time.

Ordered drinks at the bar. 4 of us stood there 3 drinks served one forgotten so had to wait for 2 others customers to be served before she realised she had forgotten a drink.

Sat in the bar area as a table became available. Bar area full of dirty dishes and glasses. The empty tables remained like that for at least 2 hours and were not cleared. The table next to us had dirty glasses from the group before as well as dirty glasses and plates from the next customers whilst we were sat there! The table also had a plant pot with a dead plant in it!!!!

Food was very nice and to a standard we expected. Drinks that were ordered with food on the app arrived after the food.

Ordered pudding and additional drinks at the bar as app wasn’t working. Pudding arrived to a table full of our dirty main course dishes that hadn’t been cleared for over half an hour. Hot chocolate ordered and coffee arrived instead. Another trip back up to the bar to get that changed.

Great food but unfortunately the service really let down the experience - more staff training needed. Regular table clearing and attention to detail would have made our experience far better. Sitting in a bar area full of dirty dishes, glasses and dead plants is not really the ambience we were...

The pub was nice and clean and the serving girl was very friendly. Unfortunately the fish that I ordered was balanced precariously on the mushy peas pot and when I tried to move it, it toppled to the floor. The serving staff were great though and very quickly replaced the whole dish for me.

The batter was very crispy and the fish was cooked really nicely, it would be easier if things weren't balanced on top of each other on the plate, but I suppose that means there's lots of food so it can't be too bad a thing!

I will go again

Edit. I went again, food was mediocre. I felt before that the chips looked anaemic and underdone. I didn't say anything first time because they had changed the whole meal for me and maybe they were in a hurry to do the chips so it was understandable that they were underdone when I got the new dish

This time I ordered the chicken curry with jasmine rice and a side of onion/mushroom rings (I couldn't tell). My partner got the fish cakes and chips

My chicken was dry and when I complained about the clumped together rice I was told it was sticky rice. The menu said Jasmine rice

The fish cakes were mediocre and the chips when they arrived looked like they'd been boiled in water instead of fried in oil they were so white.

It was very busy on a midweek night and as the night went on it only got warmer and warmer and they didn't seem to have any air conditioning available.

I don't think I will go again.

Serving staff were...
