I want to love this place and support a local business, but there have been too many instances that have left me feeling disappointed. I popped in on the weekend wanting a rooibos tea to takeaway. The lady that usually serves me wasn’t there, so I asked if the guy there had any rooibos tea (sometimes it’s out of stock) and he said ‘yeah he thinks so’ and doesn’t check. I then asked if I could have it to takeaway just as I was getting ready to pay, he rudely said no he can’t do that as it’s a loose leaf. I said that’s fine I’ll go to the coffee shop next door, but was confused as to why he didn’t want to just brew it for a few mins before pouring it into a takeaway cup like the usual lady would do?
Another time my sister ordered mushrooms on toast - the mushrooms were pickled… that should have been stipulated because lots of people hate pickle. On a separate occasion we ordered a cheese toastie and there was pickle in it, which was also not on the menu.
They use really tiny takeaway coffee cups which isn’t a problem necessarily, but they charge the same amount as any other coffee shop would for a full size takeaway cup. I don’t understand this because when you order to sit in, you actually get a good size tea or coffee!
Having the whole cafe close for a period for the baby club is lovely for the group, but jarring for somebody who has maybe walked all the way there for a lunch and find you have to go somewhere else. Surely it would make more sense to run these clubs after stipulated opening hours? It’s a little frustrating that unless you have them on Instagram, you don’t get updated with these things, or when they have last minute opening time changes.
My sister is a regular and has been turned away multiple times because the person opening ‘has only just got in’ despite the fact it’s now after stipulated opening times.
It’s also crazy steamy in there. There is a clearly a damp problem and it fogs up your glasses as soon as you enter.
I love supporting local and will always try and choose a place like this over a chain. Despite having multiple disappointing experiences I still want to and continue to be a customer for this reason. I usually dislike leaving reviews but I’d love for somebody to take on board these few things that I know multiple people have had poor experiences with. I’m very excited for the deli to open and I have high hopes that it will succeed. I understand that it’s a small business and try to give the benefit of the doubt to the only one person working there, it can just be frustrating paying for something that you’re not...
Read moreWhen this place first opened, I had a coffee that tasted incredible and ever since, its been quite disappointing. I’m looking for something that doesn’t taste of the ordinary. I’ve even switched from my regular flat white to an americano recently to try something different but it’s just no way near as good as when I first visited.
I’ve visited a coffee shop in exeter recently called Melo and I bought a few coffees because it just tasted that good and I would like if it was the same here.
I’d like to mention that the food is still fantastic, the music is a little too loud but the staff are always very friendly and...
