After having spent some time at the fun fair I decided to have a look at what was happening on the other side of a huge park/common where I could see a row of tall Victorian buildings. I finally found a small-ich pedestrian street, looking almost empty with half of its businesses closed. I was looking for unusual posters for both my daughter and son, and I must say that I had not been very lucky in my search so far. No one seems to be selling posters anymore... An antic shop was open and I quickly engaged conversation with the owner. He recommended that I should have a look at one of his colleague's, the owner of a vynil records/café shop further up in the street. I got in there around 3 30pm while the owner was starting clearing the café area to shut down for 4pm. We spoke about French cinema which he was fond off. When asked about my request, he directed me to a place of his shop where I found a dozen of posters rolled up and standing randomly in that corner. It was mostly posters of recent gigs or the up- coming of a new album of unknown-to- me bands. Just what I was after: unusual, arty, quirky, provocative, you name it! and above all, nice to look at. At this stage I hadn't expressed any interest in the vinyls, nor in having a hot drink which both are the nature of his business. Nevertheless, he told me to choose any of the posters, as many as I wanted, and he said to have them for free! It was just as if I'd found the pirates' treasure! I spent some time selecting the best and most suitable ones to end up with a dozen of posters I would have happily bought them for a fiver each! So after that I had a quick look at the records on offer, used and new and I've been impressed by the selection of titles, genres and hard-to-find albums. Unfortunately I was running out of time and left way before I would have liked to. So thank you for the posters Mr Pie and Vinyls.. This is certainly a place I'll...

I attended with my daughter after looking for somewhere local serving quality food, the menu is small but simple and versatile, options for meat eaters, vegan, vegetarian and everyone alike.
Everything is freshly made onsite and prepared with love, the staff were friendly but not imposing, very helpful with explaining the menu which has extensive add-ons without being extreme, they just allow you to build your meal your way, My daughter had the minted lamb pie with mash and peas and gravy, she enjoyed it but noted that having minted pushy peas and mint an lamb pie was too minty, something she can correct next time and no reflection on the quality or niceness of the food, i had the Jackfruit pie with mustard mash, minty mushy peas and gravy with crispy onion and cheesy topping, wow, a real journey in the mouth, a journey, each mouthful was an explosion of flavour, the portion size is very generous, turn up hungry if you order and be prepared for musical journey in your mouth, the atmosphere adds to the experience, being surrounded by the nostalgia of talented musicians in the form of sound, really nice music playing in background and visually, your surrounded by iconic figures in photos, records (Vinyl) and musical ambiance, the tables and chairs are quirky interesting and full of historic life.
Oh and tea in a Pot, with China cups, you cant go wrong, attention to detail is well thought out and enticing, screaming out care, love and thoughtfulness.
The menu is fair priced and excellent value for money.
Both my daughter and i agreed that it was a highlight of the area and would return solely to dine here, that was the power of the venue, quality & tastiness of the food, and fine standard of staff.
Thank you thank...
Read moreFood was good but unfortunately service didn’t match - the man greeting us was standoffish and rude from the second we arrived.
He was extremely patronising when we asked for a table for 4; rather than answering us with any professionalism, he looked around the busy shop (which clearly didn’t have any tables free at the time) and shrugged, as if we should have already known there were no available tables and it was stupid to even ask.
We found our own seats outside to which he said the food would be a longer wait for us because there were people before us (?), Taking our order seemed like a chore to him and checking in on us halfway through the meal was brief and careless, he clearly didn’t want to be serving us and it was uncomfortably obvious.
He spent more time outside right next to our table on a smoke break, terrible attitude and poor service.
Just want to note that the waitress who served us was extremely professional and the kitchen staff are clearly very good too, this review in no way reflects them but unfortunately this man has put us...
