For disclosure - I have dined previously at this restaurant and the food has frequently been good, even if the portion sizes have been erratic. However, on my recent visit (15th August 2024) with six friends, we thought we would try the bottomless menu. Five of us were keen to try it, and our sixth member - a friend visiting from overseas - decided to opt for standard lunch menu items. Initially, the server gave us the menus and confusingly explained how much could be ordered from each side and the rules (we peiced together that our party of five could only order 15 dishes from either side of a peice of paper, and we could only order for the table 3 times). As we were preparing to order, and our friend had already ordered their items, the server came over and stated that the manager had decreed that since our overseas friend wasn't ordering from the bottomless menu, they'd have to be moved to a separate table away from us. No explanation was given as to WHY this had to be done. Since our visit was to celebrate our friends visitation, and we had no desire to isolate said friend for an hours meal, we of course shifted to the regular lunch menu. From that point on, what I can only assume was the manager continued to give our overseas friend and our table dirty looks, and otherwise rude behaviour. This did not end until we left after our meal. I do not place any blame on the server - as they claimed it was their first day - but upon the managers ridiculous behaviour, and nonsensical rules.
It's such a shame, since the food was delicious. But if the management are going to be that rude to paying customers, for no explainable reason, then I cannot in good conscience recommend dining here, and Meiz has lost a previously...
Read moreBeen here a few times. Food is very delicious and lunch-time menu is extremely good value. Was actually my favourite place in Preston to eat.
Last time I came however, I had never experienced rudeness to this level before. Lady saw us waiting at the door and continued to walk past us continually, despite us waving at her- she ignored us for quite some time. Once seated, she came over, put the menus on the table, didn’t say a word and just turned around with a look of disgust. At this point we were wondering what is going on??? She then didn’t serve us for half an hour, we were just sitting there. Eventually she came to take our order and we must have sat there for about 2 mins in silence waiting for her to flick through each and every individual page of her notebook to get to an empty page for a new order. Was very awkward this was.
We then waited for an hour and a half before asking a different staff member where our order was. She told us the order was misplaced and they were going to start preparing it now. I get mistakes can happen but this mistake combined with all the rudeness seemed very coincidental. At this point we decided to leave as we couldn’t wait another hour or so and also were kinda done with the service. I would have hoped for a discount on what we already ordered (drinks and a few starters) due to the mix-up and long wait, but no. Either way, the service by just this one woman was so bad and she was doing it to other groups too, as we were observing. We were very confused by the service. Shame because food-wise, it’s great. And the other staff...
Read moreAppalling service. Staff rude. Left to sit for over 10 minutes with absolutely no acknowledgment from staff when a table that came in after us were served and even had their drinks. When mentioned we were told by rude staff member (young girl with dark hair) that it was because they had reserved a table. Utter nonsense and basic hospitality rules. When I complained I was stared at blankly with an attitude and not even a word uttered never mind an apology. Shame as we come a lot and will never return after that treatment. Management need to observe their staff members before losing any more loyal customers.
EDIT** If you cannot provide decent customer service in busy times don’t be in the service industry. Although I might add that the restaurant was almost half empty during our short visit today. Thank you for your response. Although I did just state that I will not be returning anyway so it was unfortunately pointless. You do realise service is an integral part of dining out and your customers CHOOSE to spend their hard earned money in your establishment. The minimum requirement is respect and half decent customer service. I do from your response now see why the customer service was...
