Read some of the more negative reviews on here so I initially visited with a bit of an open mind! Now? I’m a regular when waiting for trains at Preston!!!! It is a bustling traditional “city pub” pub with an excellent selection of guest cask ales as well as more staple beers (+ other drinks of course) available. The bar staff are a great team who cheerfully fly round to ensure all customers are served promptly which, given the bar is on 3 sides, is no mean feat at times. It serves a very busy “city pub” market and is always full but never feels overcrowded. But, like many city pubs, it is just that – and it does an excellent job too! You will note I have used the term “city pub” several times – because that is what it sets out to be and does it extremely well – in fact, with the guest beers, far better than most. Read moreCalled in here last night with a group of friends. I am 66 and my other friends are 40/50+, apart from one 18 year old, the son of one of out party. 3 of our party were female. We were made to feel uneasy from the outset, the two door men constantly staring at us? After 30 mins. the young lad was unable to be served. One of the doormen accused him of being on drugs. This young person suffers from mental health issues and takes medication for this. He is an extremely likable and mannerly lad. The doormen then, for some unknown reason 'pounced ' on us. Manhandled to lad outside. When I tried to calmly explain to the shorter of the doormen the situation with the lad I was thrown out with my arm held up my back. Really, was this necessary, bullying an OAP, females and a young lad for nothing. A female person in out group also had her face slapped. Totallly out of order from two bully boys. Disgraceful. But I suppose these days you can't really expect any respect for certain people in society. I hope you are proud...
