We visited this café in Rochdale after seeing all the glowing Google reviews, hoping for a great experience. The ambience was indeed nice, and the food looked appealing when it arrived.
I ordered the paya, which was just okay—not memorable. The plain paratha was quite good. My partner ordered the masala fish, which unfortunately was undercooked and served on top of a gobi paratha drenched in sauces.
We raised the issue politely and discreetly, given the number of customers around. The staff acknowledged it and agreed to replace the fish. We handed over the plate, which still had about three-quarters of the fish and paratha underneath.
As we were running late, we asked them to pack the replacement to take away. However, when we got home nearly two hours later and opened the box, we were shocked to find they had replaced only the fish—but had packed it back on the exact same paratha from earlier, fully soaked in sauces and previously in contact with the raw, undercooked fish.
It’s extremely concerning that the staff either didn’t understand or ignored the importance of avoiding cross-contamination, especially with undercooked food. For a place with such high ratings, the experience was very underwhelming, and the food was average at best.
Sadly, this café feels overrated based...
Read moreTried the paya, halwa and channa with paratha, puri and roti and it tasted absolutely amazing. The breads weren't overly oily, the halwa was sweet but not too sweet and the channa had the correct level of spice. The paya was cooked perfectly, soft and tender with a good amount of spice. No longer do you need to go to Bradford to get good halwa puri and channa. There's only one server, the owner himself so please be patient with the service as they are trying their best. I can see this place doing really well and wish it...
