Russells — Restaurant in Rochdale

We visited Rochdale recently and although Russells Café is not a regular haunt of ours, we thought we would have a bite to eat. I asked if they did beans on toast as it was not listed on a menu I looked at before proceeding to the counter. Only on seeing the receipt clipped to the display for a member of staff to see to bring the food to the table was I horrified to see I had been charged £3.85 for beans on toast. It is not worth £3.85. If the item had been listed on the menu and I had seen the cost I would not have bought it at that price. Why was it not included on your menu of breakfast items? Your menu is misleading then in this regard. You should list all items you provide.

The toast was also medium slice and I am sorry but for this you should use thick sliced or toasty slice as medium is a waste of time. Also , why do you add a bit of salad to this dish? I have never seen that before and its not needed...

I normally enjoy my time at Russell's cafe but not that long ago I sat down in the outside part of the cafe, I had my own drink because I had been somewhere else previously, when I only just sat down I was rudely approached by a member of staff and this is what she said "you shouldn't come with your own food" at this time I did not have my mask on and she was only a short distance away from my face, I felt way to uncomfortable, I hadn't even opened the menu yet. I didnt even hav any food with me i just put a bottle of milkshake on the table. I felt so uncomfortable that I had to leave. I was looking foward to eating but this experience, especially during covid 19, has made me rethink my thoughts...

Very impressed. Initial impression - the place was very clean and tables were cleared quickly (a favourite bugbear of mine is dirty tables), service was prompt and pleasant. I had a very nice egg mayonnaise sandwich which was obviously freshly made and came with a small side salad which was just enough, a lovely big custard tart and two cups of proper filter coffee. The prices are reasonable. The ladies toilets were clean - I saw them being cleaned twice during my visit. For obvious reasons I didn't go into the gents! All in all this is a cafe that I will happily...
