pleasant place and decently priced. food was nice. tikka kushbu was nice but lamb was a bit tough. we also had syleti makhani which was also good but a teeny bit bland - however this might just be the nature of the dish being a buttery mild curry. the side dishes of bombay aloo and chana masala were nice, rice was a good portion, the garlic naan was amazing, poppadoms came with some of the nicest dips i’ve had at an indian too. there’s an item on the menu, pretty sure it’s called ‘thali’ and it gives you a bit of everything on a platter, bit like a set meal. unfortunately they only do this monday-wednesday and we went on a thursday. it would be a nice addition to see this as an item served every night but possibly for a higher price on busier days. staff were friendly and quick service - although we were the only people there.

Group of us enjoyed the Thali evening here on Mondays. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was fantastic. The Thali consisted of a mini lamb dansak, mini chicken masala and a mini vegetable jalfrezi, naan bread and rice. There was plenty of food without any extra sides needed. The restaurant itself is fairly small and intimate, not that many tables so I'd suggest booking especially if you're a group larger than 4. It's somewhat dated but authentic and has evidently been a part of Rayleigh highstreet for many years. Highly recommend!

Came in on a Sunday, service was great, very friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Food was absolutely delicious, couldn’t fault it! Really recommend the lamb tikka rogan Josh, the lamb was so tender and curry was fresh, hot and really flavoursome. Will definitely be returning

Having travelled 200 mile I ventured into the nearest eatery next to the Premier Inn near by. Having waited 20 mins and getting hungry by the nano second I looked on line and found "Rayleigh Spicy". It looked like a nice place so off I ventured on foot leaving the Harvester (nuff said) behind. To my absolute delight there was this fantastic little restaurant with wafts of food and spices coming out the door sending the taste buds into a frenzy. If that was not enough, I ordered my meal and eagerly awaited my food. What can i say it was sublime! The staff are friendly, eager to help you and discuss what you like in relation to the menu. If you are in town and pass this little gem by you...

So disappointed with our curry tonight from Rayleigh Spicy. Jason’s prawn pathia had 5 prawns in and flavour nothing like we’ve had before, my chicken tikka dansak had over cooked chicken and lacked flavour, George’s korma had bone in. Jason phoned to let them know and ask if they’d changed chef, but no. We were offered another curry but having eaten half we didn’t want another one. So we were offered 10% off our next order by way of an apology. Just feel disappointed. We’ve been loyal customers for over 20 years! Sadly we will not be...
