Charcoal and Earth - Turkish Restaurant — Restaurant in Rochford

As a rule of thumb, this type of cuisine is not something that I generally enjoy. However, we have ordered from Charcoal and Earth on multiple occasions now, with each time being consistently delicious. The chicken is always perfectly cooked with a perfect balance of seasoning. All of the bread and salad are fresh and equally well seasoned. The chef who thought of putting finely chopped mint with the side salad has got some skills!

On one final note on this somewhat lengthy review, my partner is a celiac (can’t have gluten). Charcoal and Earth are more than accommodating with this, offering a huge range of clearly gluten-free options. However, what makes them great in this regard is that all you need to do is ask and the staff are more than happy to check with the chefs if specific items can be made gluten-free. So far, everything we’ve asked about has been met with a friendly and flexible response.

This place had terrible service as we ordered our food on Uber eats which says delivered by restaurant waited for estimated time which was an hour and didn’t turn up I had called up the restaurant all I heard was arguing and shouting in the background then was told they didn’t see the order then was told my food would take another 30 minutes as they just started to cook it I asked what can you do to solve this I was told NOTHING can be done I asked to speak to the manger was told he is the manger and was absolutely RUDE told me if I wanted I can CANCEL after having me wait for ages didn’t even offer anything then the food turns up 45 minutes later COLD please avoid this place if you don’t want to be DISAPPOINTED

Ordered at 5.45pm on the the understanding the meal could take up to 2 hours as per website. Come 7.45pm still not arrived, was told they can’t see my order internally therefore must be on the road.. 8.15pm I call and ask for a refund.. could hear all the staff shouting in background it’s out for delivery ‘ tell her ‘ .. lady came back on phone and asked me to wait 5-10 mins longer to which there was a knock at the door. So my food had been on the road for 30 mins so it was no surprise when it turned up cold. When I complained and said the food was inedible as I wasn’t prepared to reheat lamb chops in the microwave which cost £15 I was offered a goodwill gesture of £5.
