As a family of 3 we have dined here 3-4 times a month for over 10 years but after last night we won't be going back. Our table was booked for 18.30 and on arrival we were directed to our table. Once seated we waited quite some time before being given menus. Order was taken and drinks were brought to us. We then waited, waited and waited! Over 50 minutes had passed and noted the 2 tables that were seated after us had been served and finished their meals. I went to the desk to ask if they had forgotten to put our order through? I was told our ticket was next. I asked why when the 2 other tables seated after us had already eaten? Waitress said she was busy and she must of got mixed up when she took the orders, (didn't make sense as a different lady took the other orders). I sat back down and we waited a little longer but still no food so we decided to leave. They even had the cheek to take payment for the buttered roll and a lime and soda drink after leaving us sitting there for approx an hour. I complained to the manager on our way out who told me he had "dropped a piece of our fish" and that's what the delay was, so unsure if that's what happened or the waitresses story of mixed up order tickets was the issue. Either way if it takes an hour to fry a piece of fish that's probably why they were so busy? Over 10 years of 3 loyal customers, 3-4 times a month and now have to dine...

So after a loyal customer of Queens in Hockley then Rayleigh, we end up with Kings... and do they miss and lack basic customer service.... Derek (Del) was the best in customer service of which I do hope his well and enjoying his retirement.
Anyhow, upon arrival there were 4 teenager's inside despite clear Covid signs saying otherwise. They were allowed to stay inside until their order was ready while the rest of us waited outside in the rain. Clearly freinds of those behind the counter.
Finally, they leave, in I go, place another order over £20.00, then get told to wait outside. When challenged nothing, they wasn't expecting the challenge, but surely rules are rules and apply to everyone except their friends.
Order comes out the ice cream window and have to say it was the worst piece of fish I have every had... yet you charge good money.
That my friends, is that... no more will I accept your poor attitude nor your poor quality fish.
Never...
Read moreWe went to Kings fish and chips in Raleigh for the first time today. Was a pure spur of the moment decision when we saw their £10.95 lunch time offer for cod and chips with a buttered roll and a hot drink on a board outside. All the staff were really friendly and welcoming it was a really nice clean traditional style restaurant. I chose to upgrade and order Skate and chips off of the main menu for £13.95 The waitress was really helpful and polite. The food arrived very quickly and despite it being a special offer my wife was delighted with her cod and chips it was a good sized portion of fish which was pure white, flakey and delicious. The chips were delicious and it was presented with a salad dressing. My Skate was really tasty and very well cooked with thin crispy batter. Not at all greasy. All the food was piping hot and nicely presented. All in all very impressed with the meal and the staff, great food at a great price. Will...
