We used to come here often but stopped after the manager shouted at me for using the disabled toilet and told me to use the toilet upstairs. I felt embarassed that she made a scene in front of the staff and other diners, so we got the bill and left before finishing our meal. My partner confronted her and she proceeded to tell him that "she isn't disabled", to which my partner pointed out that not all disabilities are visible. She realised she was in the wrong and eventually apologised, but did not seem sincere and was clearly trying to save face in front of other customers.

We dined there many times for more than a year, spending upwards of £60 on food and drink each time. Over time, we noticed a decline in the quality of food, and the number of tables filled. In the end, the chicken served was very fatty and chewy, and the spring rolls had a very unappetising after-taste that was off-putting.

The manager could be seen on many occasions micro-managing her staff and degrading them in front of other diners. She had a habit of barking orders at them, particularly new staff.

The combination of all of these things, along with the hefty price of the food (that is mediocre at best) has driven us to other restaurants in West Bridgford. The staff seem a lot happier in other restaurants and the food is priced appropriately for the quality. If you're looking for drinks only, it's probably a good spot during happy hour, but if you're looking to stay for an extended period enjoying your food in a nice atmosphere, I'd personally recommend The Botanist...

First time visiting here after and after so many great reviews from friends we was looking forward to it. Where to start….We was constantly approached whilst looking through the menu deciding what we wanted to eat, even though we said we wasn’t ready to place our order yet. There was 8 of us and we was given less than 2hours to eat and drink. Three of us wanted the 7 course tasting menu (£45pp) but was told ‘it was too late and we didn’t have enough time’ which we wasn’t told about until they took our order, 15minutes after all guests arrived 101 of how not to do business…. The first round of drinks came relatively quick, however, I could have done a half marathon in the time it took to get the second lot. The food came extremely staggered, which is semi-understandable as it was fairly busy. However my food was extremely bland. The salt and pepper chips was freezing, they took it away and re-friend the same portion. In all honestly, I had more enjoyment when I was on a liquid only diet than at this meal. To top off this interesting evening… one of the waitresses came over and started clearing our table and said we need it back at 8.15, (people was still eating)not taking into consideration the delay we had with receiving our food and drinks. I don’t know whether she’d chewed a wasp in the back, but her whole attitude was awful. Constantly saying it wasn’t their fault etc. Honestly the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced and it’s fair to say I won’t...

Menu was confused, and badly laid out, if you offer small plates, a note on the menu saying what the recommended amounts are per person would be helpful. "Main meal" style big bowls all mixed in together with the small plates and sushi making it an uncomfortable read. There also wasn't enough food variation for a "small plates" restaurant, pick one thing and do that well, don't try and hit every note, because right now it's not working.

The food itself was good, not great, gyoza, fried rice, seaweed salad and yakitori were all really good. The tempura wasn't good, the batter wasn't tempura batter, it was too dark and heavy. California roll was a bit bland and lacking ingredients, very basic for such and expensive restaurant. The pork tonkatsu wasn't great either, the portions of sauces were all really small.

To top it off, the staff, while all obviously new didn't know much about Japanese food which meant that questions about the food weren't given satisfactory answers on the next table.

Just a note: this is a new restaurant and they are obviously trying to recreate the success of yumacha, hence the very...

I was really excited to take my partner here as they have a dedicated VEGAN MENU!!!!✨ We love that! The service was fast and pleasant. We got seated right next to the door which I didn't mind at first but the door was open so it got very cold very fast. So we asked to move further into the restaurant into a warmer nook. The bathroom was pretty clean and good 👍. We ordered the vegan spicy ramen noodles, Bbq pork chashu ramen, cucumber & vegan salmon maki rolls, edamame, 2 ice waters with a lemon! 🍋 They brought just the bbq pork chashu first without the noodles, but quickly returned with some ramen when I mentioned to the waiter, in their defence I did say bbq pork while pointing at the ramen 🍜. Everything was really yummy good portions, the broths for both ramens were rich and flavourful. The ⚠️Vegan Salmon Maki Rolls⚠️😍😍😍😍😍😘 are probably the best vegan salmon I've ever had, we both questioned if it was real salmon but the server had double checked all the vegan and non vegan dishes when we finished ordering. Both our drinks were great 10/10! Would go again 😇

Came here for a birthday meal (group of 6). Overall, we found it below average and unfortunately wouldn't return. The interior was lovely (awkward seating at the table upstairs, trapped in by the window - had to ask the adjacent table to get in and out), but the service was quite slow, we were left waiting a long time for drinks and food. We almost cancelled our second round of drinks as they only arrived when we had nearly finished. One of our guests' mains was forgotten and only arrived after the rest of us had finished eating, despite asking twice about it, which was a real shame. When the food did arrive, most of the mains were lukewarm rather than hot, apart from the delayed katsu. Starters were fine. They did give a free birthday dessert, which was appreciated! Although that’s quite standard at most places. We had been really excited to try this place, but left feeling disappointed. I personally wouldn’t recommend it, although it may have just been an off day.

I really enjoyed visiting Yumuchi! Sushi was good quality, the place was beautiful, had an authentic feel and the staff were friendly (if a little unsure since they had just opened). The cocktails tasted great - they took a little while to come but it was worth the wait while the bartenders are still learning the specs. I think it would be a nice touch to have just a little bit of "the spiel" when being seated to help settle people in when they arrive as the menu is nicely laid out, but there's a lot on there to take in! My only gripe was that I think the tables of 2 by the door are a little too close together. It was hard to have a conversation without feeling as though others were listening in/judging your chopstick skills!!
