I came to Trent Bridge(TB) for the first time having been successful in the ballot for ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA on the 19th June. I was really looking forward to it. However the tickets were in the Fox Road Stand at the top seats 9/10 rowU. Fine view of the pitch, on the end of the row. The previous week I had severely damaged the tendons (all of them) in my left knee so my movement was limited. No one told us until over 40 that the Fox Road Stand is the only stand at the ground where there is a constant stream to the bar by everyone else in the row, and the 3 rows in front, and behind. So that at any given time there was either a wall of big blokes standing up in front or a line a 3/4 traipsing past for whom I was obliged to get out out my seat so they could pass. But given that the whole row never all went out together there was constant traffic. I never saw more than 2 uninterrupted overs in a row and missed most of the wickets that fell. The lady behind told me that this was normal for that stand because TB had prohibited the punters from bringing in any of their own drink.I had to leave at half time because my leg was so sore I could not face another 4 hours of playing 'jack-in-the-box'. Very nice Pakistani taxi driver said I should have asked a steward to find us other seats but luckily for TB there weren't any. Nice day that I has really been looking forward to ruined due to the inconsiderate behaviour of those all around. The 3 chaps in seats 11/12/13/ went out for beer very 5 overs as did just about everyone else. Where did they put it all? And then they left at 47.3 to be first in the bar queue that made up my mind for me and we left. I am not saying they were rowdy or rude or unpleasant but enough was enough. I am afraid I will not enter into a ballot for TB again. Even without the dickie knee it would be seriously unpleasant to have to sit up there again. Until Tuesday the worst thing that had happened to me at a cricket match was a large pair of binoculars falling on me from the top the Grand Stand at Lords. This was way worse. I have now...
Read moreWe had a corporate summer party here last week which was rescheduled from 2021. We had approximately 90 guests and were in the Boundary’s Edge function room which has impressive views of the cricket ground and a balcony which runs the length of the room. We were also given use of several rooms next door which we used for the buffet and games. It was lovely with the doors open and there was plenty of seating available on the balcony. The function room at first glance seems large and plain but has a lovely feature wall and we were allowed to decorate to our taste. The staff even took all of our decorations down for us to collect after the party. We had a buffet which was lovely; the hot food was hot and everything was very fresh (no mean feat considering the warm weather). We ordered additional cheese platters, breads and oil and cakes and nothing was too much trouble. We also had chip cobs at the end of party and they went down a storm! We had a tea and coffee station set up which was very popular as a lot of our staff don’t drink alcohol. The bar was very well stocked with alcohol and soft drinks to suit most tastes. There was also a large dispenser of iced water on the bar which was really useful. Finally, the staff were amazing. I had lots of comments from my colleagues afterwards. I have organised several work events and some venues aren’t interested once they have your money, but this was definitely not the case. Without exception, the staff were friendly and helpful. Natasha who looked after us is excellent at her job and a special mention goes to Jo who organised our event and was unfazed by Covid and all of our requests over months of planning. The only slight negative is that Trent Bridge is a huge site so we had to have direction signs, but there was parking on site (first come first served) and we were able to reserve spaces too. All in all an excellent venue. We will definitely return as it is only a short walk from...
Read moreWe’ve been visiting Trent Bridge Cricket Ground for a good few years now. As with any outdoor sport, it’s at the mercy of the weather, but despite this the ground itself is an excellent venue. The seats are not too close together and there’s very good access to both the bar and the loo’s of which both go hand in hand! Fast food is is available as are non alcoholic drinks….there is a NO alcohol policy inside the ground. If you still wish to bring your own food & drink, please ensure that any food or soft drinks are in plastic or cardboard containers; avoiding alcohol, cans, glassware or metal cutlery.
