Chicken Cottage — Restaurant in Salford

Update - I decided to try them again in May 2025. Big mistake. Still as bad as last time. Greasy batter with chicken which has an oddly mushy and unpleasant texture. The chips were crispy and hot though. What was I thinking? Service was good with a smile but food is bad.

I usually walk past this place at the Lowry as I work nearby. I decided to get lunch here today but now wish I hadn’t, as the food was bad. I wasn’t expecting great things as it looked like a chicken shop which serves food that’s been cooked beforehand and is boxed up when ordered, however thought it’d be an average chicken burger, fries and wings meal. In other words simple but satisfying fare. However I was mistaken and feel robbed. A chicken burger box meal, with fries, 2 wings, beans and a drink were £10. Not cheap but reasonable if the quality and flavour were present. Sadly the food lacked both.

The burger had soggy batter and the meat was dry. It was supposed to be spicy but the burger was bland, lukewarm and with only a smear of chilli sauce to make it ‘spicy’. No seasoning in the batter. The wings were greasy and cold with lots of blood vessels and cartilage. Again no seasoning. The beans weren’t bad, and had a bbq flavour. The fries were average - crispy but flavourless.

Overall I’d avoid this place and go elsewhere in the Lowry or better still next door at...

First time I ordered from here a good time ago I was amazed and thought I found the chosen one for chicken burgers!!! But as time went on it got worse and worse until. Last night.

Wow how times have changed..... Last night I had the most intense food poisoning ever. I mean dear lord I have had food poisoning before. But I was terrified last night.... Like I felt sincere dread and fear. Acid ripping my throat apart. I am literally going to see my GP due to the intensity of the acid.

So I will be reporting this place as it's disgraceful to be operational under these conditions. Unless you desire to know what true fear feels like.... What kind of stuff are you people doing that it makes a 6ft3 guy curl up and want his momma to tell him everything gonna be alright!!!!!!!

Think I am being dramatic? Then by all means go and grab yourself one. Trying to prove me wrong will not be worth...

Very bad attitude from staff and really bad food . There was an offer for food worth £19.50 , while the staff just gave a really bad left over food in very small quantity . Worst experience and food was very bad taste . It seems like instead of going to bin he gave to us . It was not even worth for £5 . Staff’s attitude was like he was offering a charity . I was always wondering why they are always empty and never have any customers . We tried it today for first and last time and realised the reason . It’s best for you to people to shut it down rather than misleading people and treating them bad . Seems like they doesn’t even know what a fried chicken is !!! Avoid...
