We went here due to the high rating on Google. Our experience unfortunately wasn't great.
It started when we were served our tea, two of the party had chosen scones and tea and the other two had chosen brunch and tea (so the tea is a separate order as it's not included in the meal). The server asked who was having the loose leaf tea and we didn't know as essentially we thought it would all be the same for all four of us but if she's asking then there must be a difference. We said that two of us were having the scones and she nodded and put the tea pots next to them.
We therefore thought another two pots of tea would be along with non-loose tea for the two of us that had the normal food. After waiting for some time, our tea didn't arrive and then when we were served our mains we asked about our tea only to be told that it's all the same and the two tea pots were for all four of us, including the strainers we had been given.
On that note, one of the strainers was filthy, with chunks of food or similar (not tea) on it, clearly it hadn't been cleaned. They happily swapped it over anyway.
Our mains were not good, I ordered Eggs Benedict Royal and the eggs weren't in the slightest bit runny, they were solid on top. I mentioned this to the server who took it away, after a while my new one came back which was cold and way under-cooked. The eggs were still part jelly and by this time I thought I'd just eat it as I'm hungry and I'm not going to die from it.
My mother in law and her husband both had under-cooked scones, hers was really under-cooked to the point it was really doughy. She asked for it to be replaced which they did. The replacement still wasn't great, it was very dense and also still a bit doughy. There wasn't much cream or jam for the size of the cake either.
My wife's salad tasted very earthy as though it hadn't been washed so she left it.
We were on a table for four and next to us had been seated a family of around 5 on a table meant for two, the guy sitting next to my wife was 'man spreading' which meant she had to sit awkwardly to eat. I don't feel they should be cramming people in, the place looked to be over max capacity.
As the place looks and feels nice, with a nice vibe and the staff seemed friendly if stressed, I'm not sure what's going on with their service and food. It felt very disjointed and manic, like something out of Gordon's kitchen nightmares.
They asked how my replacement Eggs Benedict Royal was and I mentioned that it was under-cooked this time and they took it off the bill without me asking and they apologised so that was something.
I wouldn't come again though, I hope they can sort out the issues as I'm sure it would be a great place to eat/drink if they do. Maybe we just got incredibly unlucky but having read other reviews it seems it's a bit luck of the draw. I thought perhaps they hadn't been open long so were still having teething problems but the waiter said they had been there for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn the 17th of July 2025, at 12:30 We went to Vintage Ambience in Monton with a friend and our babies, and unfortunately had a really negative experience. From the moment we arrived, the manager (Selma) gave us dirty looks and made us feel completely unwelcome just because we had little ones with us. The babies were simply eating, and we made a real effort to clean up after them, but her attitude was cold and judgmental the entire time.
The atmosphere was tense and uncomfortable, and it felt like we were being judged simply for having children with us. Itās such a shame, because we were hoping to support a local spot, but the cold and unfriendly attitude ruined the experience.
I left an honest and respectful review on Instagram, only to be blocked by their account instead of being acknowledged or responded to. Rather than taking any responsibility or even opening a conversation, they chose to silence feedback. Itās incredibly unprofessional and shows a complete lack of customer care.
To the owner: if you care about your customers and your business, you seriously need to rethink who you have in charge. Hospitality matters, and right now, itās sorely lacking. We wonāt be returning and wouldnāt recommend it to anyone,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited here for breakfast with my dad on a busy Wednesday morning before we went to bible study. We were rushing a bit but pre-booked a table for half 10 but got there early as we had to be away for 11. Food and service were fab and would highly recommend š
The restaurant is located on the busy main road through Monton and provides plenty of great breakfast and brunch options. I had the vegan breakfast and my dad had the mushroom, spinach and poached eggs on sourdough. We both thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and would definitely visit again š
There were plenty of other options on the menu and pricing was competitive on the most part, with some dishes being on the more expensive side. The restaurant environment was a pleasant, welcoming and clean one even though it was busy in there. Staff were great and the food was tasty. It's definitely a good place to grab breakfast if you are travelling through Monton or in the area. All the full breakfasts looked fab and the vegan one was amazing. Shame we didn't have more time to enjoy our meal. Thanks for a lovely...
