DO NOT EAT HERE! I understand many reviews have been positive but the appalling service I was given while simply trying to make a reservation tells me and should tell you all you need to know about the people who work here and the service you’re likely to receive. To feel this way before even stepping foot into the restaurant speaks volumes of the people who work here, or maybe just the one rude person who answered the phone, regardless of if it was just one person, he has ruined a potentially good experience for my wife and I and could potentially do the same for you.

I was trying to redeem a voucher from red letter days for this restaurant, firstly I was told they’ve never heard of this voucher and to email some details over and they’ll look into it, after doing so I called back 10 minutes later around 4-5 times and each time my call wasn’t answered. I decided to call an hour or so later this time from my wife’s phone and what a surprise, the call was answered pretty promptly, I was told that they cannot help me today as they are closed until 5:30 and they will call me tomorrow, bear in mind they answered my initial call when they requested an email and didn’t tell me they were closed, so something drastic must have changed within an hour! Or maybe not! Seems to me they were avoiding me and my ‘unknown’ voucher.

To make matters worse, I asked for the persons name for reference and he point blank refused to give it, he said “I don’t have to give you my name” in a fairly rude manner which to be honest shocked me, I then asked why he wouldn’t give it to which he repeated the above, he then said “get lost you aren’t eating at this restaurant” I’m not entirely sure what rilled him up but it definitely wasn’t me, I wanted to redeem my voucher and make a booking, I cooperated in providing an email with some details but it felt to me that he didn’t want me to use a voucher from the get go.

My wife and I wanted to eat here for our wedding Anniversary but after this we’re definitely looking elsewhere, and I would recommend...

From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. The welcome was warm, the service attentive without ever being intrusive, and the atmosphere just right — comfortable yet refined.

Our children had the chicken korma, my wife ordered the lamb korma, and I chose the slow-cooked lamb neck. Every single dish was outstanding. The kids’ meals weren’t an afterthought — they were full of flavour and prepared with the same care as the mains. My wife’s lamb korma was beautifully balanced, rich, and comforting, and my lamb neck was nothing short of perfection: slow-cooked until meltingly tender, bursting with flavour, and presented with real pride.

As a professional chef, I rarely leave a restaurant thinking, “I couldn’t have done that better myself.” But this was one of those rare occasions. The depth of flavour, the balance of spices, and the skill in execution were simply exceptional. It wasn’t just dinner; it was a reminder of why dining out can be such a joy when you find a place that truly cares about every plate they serve.

The service team deserve a mention too — attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a wonderful evening. Nothing felt rushed, nothing was too much trouble.

All in all, this restaurant has raised the bar. It’s the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. If you’re considering where to eat, don’t hesitate — this is a gem that more than deserves to...

I felt a bit under dressed coming here. Normally you don't expect people get dressed up for a joint like this. The decor is quite nice, it is not considered very upscaled, but contemporary. I had some high expectations because the place was packed on a Friday night from 5 to 9. I was hoping for something more progressive, looking at the setup. The drink selection is diverse, there are international and regional selections. The menu is huge, The coconut shrimp and the lamb kebab were just ok for me, same as everywhere else. I ordered Madhur Jaffery's favorite, which is the slow cooked lamb neck. The lamb neck was very tender, the curry flavor was very intense, strong flavor, just a hint of spice, the pomegranate arils were a very nice touch, they really enhanced the curry taste and change your palette. I love it. But the saffron rice was very dry. The same for the white rice in my colleagues Curry Chicken, the curry flavor is quite standard, nothing special. The service was OK, not extraordinary, I had to look for the wait staff and ask for things a few times. I can't say about the other dishes, but overall I think there are a few signature dishes but nothing I haven't had before. Mostly everything else should be pretty normal. You are paying for the ambient and plating really. If I am in the area, I will come here again to try the other dishes. After all, Indian food in England is...

Beautiful contemporary Indian food with the service and ambience to match. I've been a few times now but last night's meal was truly special. We made the trip all the way from Bournemouth as I think it's totally worth it! I opted for the prawns to start and the lambs neck curry for my main and both were absolutely delicious and full of flavour, I could have anything from the menu as it's clear each dish has been carefully curated. The beautiful lamb in the curry just fell apart as soon as I touched it with my fork, it was cooked to perfection and very high quality. My fiancé had a korma and that was also delicious, very flavoursome and tender. The service and ambience is also excellent, the staff are all over it and always accommodating and polite if not a little quick to take your plate after you've finished a course but that's a very minor thing in an otherwise excellent experience! If you want to go for an Indian but want something a bit more special and unique Anokaa is an absolute must! Thank you for a memorable birthday meal!
