Initially the experience at this restaurant started off well. The food was good, however the customer service was definitely lacking and at times we felt invasive. The lady here would continue to keep coming to our table to see if everything was ok, but when we would have an issue she wasn't helpful at all. Firstly, we like to not be stared at while we are eating and we felt like we were being watched again and again. We have been to many restaurants and honestly that's one thing we really do not appreciate.
On two occasions our order was taken down incorrectly. The first time we asked for tandoori roti and we were given rumali roti instead which we then just said we will just have instead then since they'd already made it wrong. However, the gentleman came back with one tandoori roti as an extra which was appreciated by us. Then afterwards we ordered a cheesecake and I clearly asked for no chocolate on it, however when it came it had chocolate drizzled on it. When we tried to call someone we were waiting and calling out for atleast 3 minutes until my son went up and called someone.
Then 3 people came (including the lady who kept coming to our table). When I told them what had happened the lady looked annoyed. Then they said there's no more cheesecake and I said that's ok and instead of apologising and offering an alternative they just looked at us almost irritated as if we were being difficult. Instead they said it is not nice plain and were almost behaving like we had made a mistake in asking them to take it back!!!! It really was very rude on there part to not accept their error and instead they tried to make us feel uncomfortable. But I was clear at that point that this restaurant is not worth coming back to.
Also, when we had rang to book the table a lady had answered the phone saying it is first come first serve and they are very busy. However, when we got there all the tables were empty except for one other. It was beyond us why she was making it seem like there would be no tables available.
Overall, we will not be going back here again. There are many restaurants who make good food and give a much better service. The lady there was very smiley but it was...
Read more7 of us went for a family meal, 5 adults and 2 children. The waiter called David was lovely. We asked him about if a certain mocktail was fizzy? He said no but when it arrived it was fizzy so we asked to change it. The manager/owner decided to tell my daughter off and say it is what you ordered and elderflower is fizzy but I said to her we asked the waiter and he said it wasn't, after an argument she agreed to change it and then went into to insult the waiter in the restaurant Infront of everyone. We then ordered main food, it arrived 1 hour and 10 minutes after we ordered it and I had to ask twice how long it would be, I was told it's coming soon by the same lady. When the food arrived it was really tasty and then the chef/ husband came and asked if we enjoyed the food to which we responded yesterday but it took time. When we went to pay I stated that we should be discounted for the inconvenience and delay of the food. She then went onto to have a full blown arguement with me Infront of other customers and staff. I explained to her that my daughter is a diabetic and had to wait for food linger than wd should have, main normally comes out within 30/45 minutes if starters aren't ordered. She then said you didn't tell me she's diabetic, I asked you if she had allergies and she can't have syrup in the drink. I explained that being diabetic isn't an allergy but a medical condition that needs carbs regularly, she can have whatever she wants asking as she has the correct insulin and as her parents are with her we also know that she can have and don't need to tell you. She walked off and after 15 minutes of no response we went to pay. She stormed out of the kitchen walked over to the counter and said il discount you. We said no and to be honest It wasn't even worth it. We paid and stood talking in the car park. We could see and hear her shouting at the waiters and her husband. I've have see this woman yell at someone as a pervious busy but when you experience it first hand she is vile and unprofessional. It's a shame because the chef was lovely as well as David the waiter. I will never attend here again and I would advise others to be...
Read moreWe were a party of four adults on a saturday night and had booked in advance. When we arrived at the booked time of 7pm we were seated on a table set for six and right next to a large party with noisy children, even though the restaurant was almost empty and was nowhere near full when we left at around 9.30. On request though, we were moved immideatly and without fuss around the corner to a much nicer location, on a table for four.
The menu choice is excellent with many dishes - especially from the 'Nepalese' section - new to our party, and without wishing to influence your decision with a name, I will say all were very well presented and in the main were given the thumbs-up from all four of us. Nepalese dishes were selected for main course by all of us also, with similar results. Sweets were fine, but 'bought-in' rather than home-made. 'Ghurka beer' had by the gents was excellent (4.8 ABV), and complimented the spicy nature of the food. A standard bottle of Suvignon Blanc for the ladies was fine.
Although there was quite a long wait between ordering and the starters arriving, this was acceptable due to the obvious freshness of the dishes. Service was attentive without being obtrusive. a point lost here though for the waiter 'passing' staters to two of our party instead of serving them, (there was no blockage of access).
The restaurant has a mix of contemporary and traditional Nepalese decoration and is quite pleasent, the Gents toilets however are a let down! Much has been spent on the main dining room but the men's room was like walking into my old school toilet! (I'm 56). The clenliness is fine, but it's like being transported into the 1970's, and needs major attention quickly!
Overall, a decent evening. would have rated another half-point if Google allowed half-points. Would have been a total of 4/5 if the two points mentioned were tackled.
Edit: this review was originally uploaded around 2017 so the toilets may have been...
