I have been here before COVID and I have to say the drinks were exquisite and I cannot say this standard changed in terms of the drinks this time around, however the food was rather bland for the price, which was rather expensive. I understand that COVID and social distancing is new for everyone and has been an extremely stressful and strange time but as far as I can see, there was a one way system, which to be fair, wasnt effective as there was no change to the layout or the number of seats in store meaning that, with the number of people in the cafe it was impossible to keep 1 metre let alone 2 metres. Luckily there was a track and trace option which we made sure we signed up to, but staff were not wearing visors or masks, I understand that it can cause communication issues but there is no excuse for staff that are not serving, to be wearing visors at least. The number of people made us feel extremely uncomfortable and the layout should most certainly be addressed as there were no changes to this at all and they were far to close together. I hate leaving bad reviews and I am aware that this may not be your usual standard as a lot of people gave this place 5☆ however we were pretty disgusted in the hygiene especially when the table we sat at had bits of food on and was not clean, we asked for it to be wiped and the lovely staff member came over but there were no antibacterial spray or wipes to sterilise the table. The staff were lovely but the COVID hygiene unfortunately was...
Read moreFirstly, after sitting down, choosing off the menu, then going to the counter to order, only to be told the oven was not working? The assistant then gave us a menu from the counter with many items crossed out, we then went to return to the table with the amended menu, to show my Mother. I was then ‘told’ to take the original menu back to the table by a vey rude assistant. We then returned to order, and was served by a different assistant, I believe the other assistant was now avoiding me. We placed the order, which arrived with no problems, apart from a ‘look’ off who I now know to be the Manageress, ‘Parmina’. Halfway through the meal, my partner found a nail clipping in her meal, which unfortunately she had already placed in her mouth, she nearly vomited. We again returned to the counter, Parmina apologised and eventually provided a full refund. When we left the restaurant as I turned towards the counter I witnessed Parmina shaking her head at me, I challenged her as to why she was shaking her head, she denied that she was? The only good part of our visit was when left! I/we will never use the cafe again, and just to confirm the cafe is located within the Next store, on the Gallagher Retail Park, Wednesbury. My recommendation is that you don’t...
Read moreJamaica blue is a solid cafe choice if you are looking for fresh, full breakfast’s or sweet drinks and desserts. On this occasion I ordered an apple caramel bunt cake and a slice of red velvet cake as it was well received however my slice of red velvet was gooey in the centre and tasted much more of food colouring that sponge- not too pleasant. However their coffees, particularly their cappuccino and their iced lattes are one of the best I’ve had. The atmosphere can range anywhere from busy to ghostly depending on how many shoppers are in the downstairs next. The service is fast and efficient despite the location and the seating is as good as you can expect from a small, hidden cafe. On the whole the service and amazing beverage and breakfasts is what makes Jamaica Blue stand out. I was well impressed with their pancakes and bunt cakes in particular which are hot, spongy and filled with generous chunks of apple. Thank you...
