This isn’t the first time we’ve been to Smash Burger, we really enjoy the food, but the service and experience was poor this time.

Firstly, upon arrival, the girl behind the tills asked if we were eating in or taking out. She then pointed at a pot on the wall and advised us to get our own menus and take a seat wherever, then order on the app when ready.

Going through the order, we selected the refillable drink with the meal, part of the double classic deal, and also a create your own bunless burger, for hubby who is reducing bread intake.

You do not get a receipt on the app, nor a confirmation of the order via email. This is a massive frustration of mine!!

The drinks were swiftly bought over, but I was told that the refillable machine was out of order and would I like a bottle instead. So the refillable is £5.75 and the bottle is £2.95, and not refillable. I didn’t get any money back or an extra bottle to make up for the lack or refillable drink that’s being advertised on the menu!!

After this, the food is cooked fresh so he can take a while, that part we don’t mind. When it came, my husbands £10.95 create your own bun less burger was not bun less 🤷🏻‍♀️!! When we asked about this, we were told they don’t do them anymore, but again is on the menu and no one had prompted this before the food was bought out. Hubby was offered this be redone, but we’d already waited a long time for the food to come out, he just removed the bun and carried on, he made a point of saying that he used the create your own option because it gave the bunless option? However what he ordered was a single classic smash which is £8.95 of its own…so we paid £2 extra for an option that was not followed through, and again no refund was offered, just to remake the burger without the bun, which she said wouldn’t make the portion any bigger they would literally just remove the bun.

As I say the food is great, we joy it, but the service is definitely an area to be improved upon.

This place is veggie heaven!

So where do I start? You are greeted by an array of friendly staff who waste no time in getting you seated and comfortable, preparing you for the mouth watering, unforgettable experience that is to come next.

For many months I would visit this restaurant simply for the only vegetarian option - the mushroom burger with a side portion of fries.

But today the new veggie and vegan menu blew my mind. I have never been so spoilt for choice and it definitely was a sigh of relief for this anxious foodie.

I opted for the triple spicy burger and can honestly say it did not disappoint! The red colour of the inner burger had me fearing it was actual beef but no doubt this added to the authenticity of a true 'burger'...and oh boi was it good!

The fresh cut jalapenos were overpowering and did not offer the burger the type of subtle flavour you have in comparison with Subway pickle jalapenos. I would recommend management consider providing both options.

The Oreo milkshake is more creamy and milk-based than is served at other popular restaurants. It would be better if they add more Oreo biscuits for a stronger flavour and fuller texture. But a plus point, they served the overfill of the milkshake mix in a separate steel glass so definitely had me smiling!

Price is reasonable, however the side order of fries are somewhat overpriced considering they are not the largest of portions.

Parking is great and easily accessible.

Overall, this was a great experience and I was unable to fault the staff or restaurant.
