The hardest bit about eating Indian food in Glasgow is not trying to find a good one but trying to choose from all the amazing choices you have just in Partick/West End alone like Chakoo, Mother India, Little curry house and Ashoka being strong contenders. I am happy to say that you can confidently add 29 states of Indian cuisine to your Indian list. Myself, my partner and her sister have walked past this restaurant on the way to Victoria Park and always been drooling as the smells hit you going past the restaurant. Tonight we went in and had a vegetable pakora and Aloo Samosa to share for starters. The pakoras were lovely with a light batter and the samosas were also nice and light, full of flavour served with some beautiful chickpeas cooked in a sauce. For our mains we had a chicken Kahari, sweet potato curry and Dum Aloo Gobi with pilau rice and garlic naan. All the curry’s were generous portions and absolutely delicious. We all agreed we would order everything we had again in future. The menu itself also had loads of options for vegetarians/vegans which can sometimes be an issue when you visit places. The staff were very friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome, the restaurant had nice decor and the bathrooms were always nice and clean (with some cool taps). If you live in the area and haven’t tried it yet then you need to change that immediately as they deserve to be successful, if you are looking for somewhere new then yes it’s maybe a bit out of the way from Partick station but it’s worth the visit. 3 x Poppadoms, 2 x starters, 2 x beers, 2 x cokes, 1 x appletizer, 2 x rice and 3 x curries came to £74 which was very reasonable and taking into account the service and atmosphere an absolute bargain for eating out.

Went here with my wife on steak night on Thursday! Absolutely fantastic steaks, first class service from the all of the guys in the restaurant, food was amazing and the service was even better, incredible value for the money, steaks were perfect and the wine was really good quality, fantastic atmosphere and brilliant service from all at the square! Will definitely be back for more tasty food! Can’t praise this place enough, 12 out of 10 👍👍👍👍

First time ordering tonight; pakora and curries were excellent (Fish Mappa and Vegetable Jalandhri). Deducted one star as the garlic naan was uncooked and more like a flatbread, not a doughy naan. Very dry and chewy, and the garlic topping appeared to be a spread, so we chucked it. Called to let them know and they were very nice, offered to send a replacement which we declined. Will definitely order again but won’t order the naan bread.

Left an awful lot to be desired! Went in and were offered a table directly beside the door, to be told that the only other table available was around the corner and we'd need to wait for it to be cleaned. We waited and were eventually moved, only to find that the two couples walking in behind us asked exactly the same question and were both offered booths! After waiting over twenty minutes we were eventually offered drinks, so we ordered our meal at the same time. I ordered steak, rare, and it came out completely cooked through and grey on the outside. I complained and they changed it, only for my rib eye to be replaced by a rump that was blue and also grey on the outside; this chef seriously needs to learn how to sear meat! The place has nice decor and is fairly pleasant, but they need to hire a decent chef that knows his trade and also need to teach their front of house staff much more thoroughly. To be fair, they took all the food items off the bill, without asking, so we probably would give them another try on a different night, to see if it improves, but the owner has some problems to fix.

Edit:

After the reply received from the owner, I should've given it a one star!

The tables were requested as the diners behind us arrived; we heard them asking for them. It took over twenty minutes to be even asked if we'd like a drink; fact. The steak was definitely not a rib eye; there was no knot if fat in it. Your chef needs substantial training; both attempts at cooking the steaks were grey, which means the pan wasn't hot enough when he started - as an aside, steak should be cooked on the grill, not a pan. The reason I didn't get the 'blue' steak re-cooked is because there comes a limit as to how long I would like to sit and watch my partner eat, when we're supposed to be sharing a meal. If you don't want 'public' criticism, how about accepting when you've clearly gotten something wrong! My review went easy on you, as I haven't even mentioned the group at the table beside us. Do you really want me to go there, or will you accept that your business failed...

Lovely restaurant, great selection of delicious food on offer at reasonable prices for west End of Glasgow! Restaurant also offers set menus for cheaper options which I feel is very considerate and are incredibly tasty as well. Restaurant is clean, and service is fast, but not too fast.

What sold 29 states for me was the staff!

They go above and beyond for their customers, always offering a smile and a pleasant greet upon arrival, always checking that everything is ok, and making sure that the customer feels comfortable!

Excellent, excellent service!

I am a mum, and took my kids here who love Indian food, as you could probably imagine eating out is a rare occurrence for us as a bigger family and at times can often be hectic. However that wasn’t the case here at 29 states, the staff were incredibly attentive, providing my kids with a toy after spending a large bill, which wasn’t needed but incredibly thoughtful and made my children’s day! Not often do you see restaurants paying that much attention to every little detail and showing appreciation to their customers.

I could not praise this place enough, If you enjoy Indian cuisine, and enjoy eating out, but perhaps have kids and worry about prices, noise, seating etc.. COME HERE!!

I can guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face!

29 states- not once did you ever make us feel uncomfortable, But loved and welcomed as part of your culture and family business! Thank you for providing the Broomhill area with the best taste India has to offer!

And thank you to your hard working staff for everything they do !

I could not recommend this place enough!

P.S (If you’re a spice lover i highly recommend the south Indian garlic chilli chicken! :))
