We had a three night visit to Glasgow, and came across this charming little place on the morning of our departure from the wonderful city. We decided that we just wanted a bite to eat for late breakfast before getting the train hime, and wondered past this place.
The window display or sandwiches looked very inviting, and we went in. We were greeted immediately by a pleasant lady, and given some menus. We went to sit upstairs, and our eyes were all over the place. This is such a quaint, cosy, lovely, if slightly eccentric place. The decor is amazing, and every wall is covered with artefacts.
From where we were sitting, you could see the two ladies preparing the fresh food t=for the day ahead, and the place was very clean, and well organised.
We ordered bacon Rolls, and cups of tea, as well as croissants. The bacon was absolutely delicious, and the rolls were superb. The tea was served in china cups and saucers, which again, added to the quaintness of this place. Both cups were a mismatch, and we love this.
We decided to order a couple of sandwiches also, to take away with us for lunch on our journey home, and they too were so very tasty.
This place is easy to miss, but, is worth seeking out. The staff are amazingly warm dn friendly the atmosphere is magical and the food is so very tasty.
The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and portions of food you receive.
We will be back here for sure on our next visit Definitely recommend this place to people who like something just that little bit different, appreciate great service and who want...
Read moreI’ve really tried and given this place numerous tries as it’s local but so far it’s matched other recent reviews which is a shame.
One occasion it was the wrong takeaway order (didn’t realise until having left when opening the food), another was ordering then being told to wait outside and being forgotten about, the next was popping in an hour before closing on an evening with a pal- despite the place being empty the staff just kept chatting amongst themselves then when trying to order a takeaway coffee we were told they’d already switched the machine off, the next instance was ordering a single takeaway coffee (waiting inside to avoid being forgotten about this time)- waiting 10 mins to find out they’d misplaced the receipt with the order so no one was progressing it and lastly going in asking what worked allergen wise ordering what they said was fine for me- started eating at home realised quickly it wasn’t (even checked their website to be sure) and that’s the food in the bin.
Recently there looks to be friendlier staff which is hopeful! However overall my expeience has been the staff really don’t want to be there, errors happen frequently and the price just doesn’t justify the service.
I really do hope it improves as like most I want to support local but not where it’s a gamble...
Read moreI visited Kothel 300 earlier this week and ordered a cortado and two pastries for takeaway. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing overall.
The cortado wasn’t to my taste, and the cinnamon bun - which I usually enjoy elsewhere - made me feel unwell. The second pastry turned out to be something else entirely: overly sweet and inedible. I realized after I left and opened the takeaway box that they had given me the wrong item, which was frustrating.
While I appreciated the variety of alternative milk options, the rest of the experience didn’t match up. The coffee was ready in about 3 minutes, but the pastries took around 10 minutes, which is a long wait for takeaway, especially since no one mentionedhow much it's take. Meanwhile, the staff seemed more focused on chatting than preparing orders, which felt unprofessional.
To top it off, I found the place overpriced for the quality of both the food and service. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be giving it...
