Quite disappointing new years eve night. Rung in the afternoon and booked a table for two for 5pm. After spending a lovely day in Lossiemouth we wanted to end the day, the year and our holidays with a nice authentic Turkish meal as we know it from the good Turkish take aways in Germany. After we have been taken to our table by a waitress who did not speak a word on English we were given a set menu. The place looked nice and far better than expected. As were weren't told over the phone that it was only the new years eve 5 course menue that they were serving, I asked if we could eat a la Carte and just order what we want. I can't eat a lot of food at once due to stomach operation and we didn't intend to spend the whole night from 5pm in that place. We just wanted a nice meal and go back to Lossiemouth. After the non English speaker called the other waiter, who then went to the kitchen to ask if we could eat a la Carte he came back to tell us the request was rejected. After pointing out that I just saw a lady picking up food, we were told that we could order a la Carte to take out. So we ordered what we wanted. After a short waiting time we were handed over two boxes in a plastic bag. Unfortunately we did not even get cutlery with the food and so we ended up eating our dinner with our hands (which is not really easy when having rice) in the car on a car park. And no, I could not take it home because I hate cold food. I'd rather cook my own food than spending 23£ on cold take away food. The lamb shish kebab was nice even though it looked sad in the box with the slice of bread. The chicken wrap was as I expected it to be. However I think there was mint in the garlic sauce which is not really authentic but rather made if for the British taste. What a sad disappointing night. The only good thing was that they offered reading specs when I could not read the menu cause I...
Read moreI recently visited lovely Ada restaurant near UHI College for lunch, and I was really impressed. The highlight of my meal was the delicious chicken kebab. The chicken was tender, juicy, and full of flavour, cooked to perfection. It was served with crispy chips that were the perfect balance of crunchy and soft, making a great side to the kebab. The salad was fresh and tasty, adding a nice contrast to the richness of the meal. The chilli sauce was fantastic – just the right amount of heat without being overpowering. The meal was priced reasonably, offering great value for money. I also had a mixed kebab wrap as a takeaway last week, and it was just as good – fresh and full of flavour. It was a real treat, and I thoroughly enjoyed eating it while at college. The taste of real, quality food was a welcome change and definitely motivated me to return. Every bite was a pleasure, and I couldn’t have asked for a better meal. The delicious food and friendly atmosphere made it a memorable experience. I'll certainly be back to explore the variety on the menu. Highly recommend Turkish food if you...
Read moreFancied a Turkish experience. ‘Ada’ in South Street, Elgin satisfied the need. A modest starter of ‘Sucuk’ comprising succulent chargrilled spicy sausage on toasted sourdough bread with a garlicky sauce. Generous portion. Accompanied by draught Efes Turkish lager to quench a thirst. Main course - Lamb ‘Guvec’. A casserole of diced lamb and vegetables in a tasty gravy served with bread and rice. Lamb tender with some fat which adds flavour and also contains omega-3 fatty acids. Okay, there’s saturated fat too but I didn’t it it all and healthy enough in moderation. Accompanied by a delicious ruby-red wine from Turkey called ‘Yakut’. Turkish Delight for dessert. May not look like much but the three different flavours - cocoa, pistachio and coconut - were heavenly on the palate. A pot of Turkish black tea (Çay) to round off an enjoyable meal. Service excellent. Friendly, helpful and efficient. Eastern ambience with hanging-lamps.Turkish muzak may be played. Toilets well-appointed. Provides free WiFi and...
