I loved this place the first two times I went - could not fault the charming waitresses and food. Therefore, I booked it for my 31st birthday a couple of weeks ago... and unfortunately had the worst dining experience of my life - the owner was our waiter that night. We were a table of ten and the experience was very inattentive but then veered into him being rude to one of the party who is a 70yr old woman and me feeling that I had to explain that we weren't impressed with the service or the way he spoke to my friend. Rather than park it... he proceeded to tell me that I couldn't possibly understand the intensity of running a restaurant... and they had run out of ice etc. etc. and I pointed out that as a table we didn't have much sympathy (e.g. an Obstetrician and another person who works in the restaurant industry at the table), I pointed out we nearly hadn't been able to order a main because the kitchen was seconds from being closed and no one had come to our table and that we waited over ten mins for wine glasses, and his response was "you were ten mins late"... so not sure if we were being punished because of that but I had also messaged to say we were running ten mins late and it had been 'read'. Anyway I could go on... but I won't... I've never been treated that way in a restaurant, let alone when you've booked it for a special occasion. Friends had travelled from out of town to come and I felt embarrassed for making them come to experience that. I have never complained in a restaurant before, and did not expect to that night. The way he spoke to my friend was completely unjustified and this married with the overall inattentiveness made me feel that I had to voice that this was unexpected and unacceptable. The experience overshadowed my birthday and I wish I hadn't bothered. All I hope is that the charming waitresses from before return so he's had a chance to get some ice and normal service and better...
Read moreIf google would have allowed, I would give a 3.5 review but I’ll give a 3 if I have to choose. Few changes since last time I came here, especially in the menu options and prices. Being Italian, I do not expect to eat a proper cuisine, but I find really exaggerated the prices for the quality of food. All dishes were a 6 out of 10, more on the bland side. The Piatto Misto (mix plate) was really disappointing in size for the price is sold for. The pasta (Pappardelle al ragù) was £18 for a fresh pasta unsalted and glued together (thus not properly cooked). The ragù wasn’t a ragù but some shredded lamb, not bound at all and without any sort of sauce. Tiramisu portion was big, but lacked any flavour other than mascarpone. Few errors in our order, no one ever apologised but just showed annoyance when we asked to correct the mistakes. I will definitely not come back and I’m sure I...
