After being to this branch few times now, these are the things I’ve noticed.
•Spacious seating area. The drinks they offer are distinguished, I like their coffee banana shake, their coffee beans flavor is better than other similar places in the area, a nice selection of baked goods, I enjoyed the Nata. They could add more savory options other than cheese toasties. Coffee gifting board is a lovely initiative.
Further notes:
••Atmosphere: spacious, comfortable to set enjoy your coffee or work, BUT the MUSIC won’t let you do that. too loud! They put the worst music out there. Worst beats. I don’t understand their music choices! It’s like punishment for setting in. I believe cafes should be fined for noise pollution, especially early morning.
••In size, they are trying to be like other chain coffee places in the area. With regards to quality, they want a bit of specialty grade coffee quality that they are not really putting enough effort into achieving.
••So now, quality is inconsistent at all. One day I’ll get a nice flat white, the other day it is nothing even close to flat white.
••Their staff lack training, and a good cup of coffee is all about the skills. Most of them know nothing about milk temperature and texturing, all they do is following the manual. I can see they’re trying though. Which isn’t the staff fault as they don’t get trained. It is, in my opinion, a managerial lack of interest.
••l believe they are understaffed too. Wait time can be really long, and I believe they only have one of the waffle machine to accommodate all orders. So it is one order at a time.
••Another thing is the weird proportions of coffee to milk. They don’t differentiate between a piccolo a Cortado and a flat white. Why would there be a small, medium and large cortado ? Maybe, menu need to be revised.
Not a specialty coffee grade yet. It is a nice...
Read moreCame here to visit to pass some time before gym. The place has a very well decorated interior and some of the staff are friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating that is nice and cycle parking outside.
The prices of the menu upfront are really high compared to other cafes I've visited. However, they have a loyalty program and several promotions to get the food cheaper, which is nice. This includes student discounts and tastecard. Definitely sign up for tastecard if youre considering going, because you can save the money it costs for a months membership or more!
At the time I came the wifi was down but no one had said until I came up and asked if it was working, even though I had asked which network to connect to before. Technical issues happen of course but I would have appreciated something that would have saved me the time connecting a reconnecting my devices.
The nutritional information on their website is very lackluster, and the options they advertise as "protein" actually have desceptively little protein at all as it turns out, which makes the food tastier I suppose but a bit dishonest to the buyer. A typical protein shake yo get from the shops has 20-30g but a protein smoothie here has about 9g. This coukd have been circumvented by ordering more powder in my drink, but there's nothing saying how big the extra scoop is for the extra money you're paying.
I would've enjoyed the option to get my smoothie in some sort of reusable cup or anything non plastic, but no option was immediately present to myself.
Will be coming back to try more, and will update my review as it comes, but at the moment not the best Cafe I've been too. Would recommend...
Read moreAfter a night out, where I had promised myself the single pint meeting with my friend, would just be that, I woke up feeling I had 'partied like it's 1999' as Prince would say. Since my wife was not speaking to me (seemingly getting home at exactly 132am singing 'I would walk 500 miles', whilst clutching the remnants of a vegetable biryani, is no longer acceptable to her) and since the vegan sausage sandwich and half a bottle of Iron Bru I'd managed to force down since crawling out of bed had not improved how bad I felt, it was off to my favourite coffee shop on foot. Black Sheep Coffee on Suchiehall Street. At least Finn sympathised with me and probably owned at least one 'been there, done that' t-shirt, which was more than my wife had. Sympathised with me that is. She's also got the same t-shirt, but that's different some how. His recommendation? Try one of the smoothie bowls (I chose the Berrysta which was absolutely delicious) and a large brew of Black Hoof Robusta (double the caffeine) Now I'm sure neither of us are medically qualified to explain why this worked, but I guess the combination of fruit sugars and the caffeine, kick started my day again and within no time I was feeling normal ..... Almost. Is my wife speaking to me yet? I think that's going to take a little longer unfortunately. Thanks Finn. You're a star. Spot on with the recommendations and thanks...
