Came here with my sister who was visiting from America. We had stopped at her choice as she was thirsty. The lady on the till was very helpful. As even though there was a sticker on the till saying they took Discover card we asked if they did indeed take it. The lady on the till was very polite and said "let's find out". When the card did not work, whom I can only assume was the manager and will now be referred throughout this post as the manager, came over to "assist" the lady on the 'till. We did not get an introduction as she took the card out of my sisters hand (without asking) and proceeded to swipe it. "No we don't take it" I pointed out the sticker. "It's wrong" she snarked. My sister replied saying that was fine as she pulled out another card and suggested maybe they have a sign saying that they do not take it or maybe take the the sticker off? The manager then began to argue that it was because it was one of those top up travelling cards which we corrected as it was a debit card. To which she then argued well it's an American one. My sister said again that's fine and repeated about maybe putting up a sign. We finished paying the lady on the 'till who then courteously said "sorry about that". The manager immediately snapped at her and told her not to apologise as it wasn't their (the establishment's) fault. Because of the tone my daughter who I was holding burst out crying and the manager responded "oooooo bad day!?" With yet more attitude to which at this point I told her no, just you and we left thanking the woman on the till who at this point looked as uncomfortable as us in the situation. Such a shame. Is that it?ā - Almost in an accusatory manner. I went to the table and my daughter wandered off to collect another member of the family. On their return the cafe was blocked off by a line of chairs . Maybe about 2.55. Odd. At about 2.45 my wife separately sat down at a table with our autistic boy and his favourite food waiting for us to join her. Now I do understand people eating food from elsewhere being a problem (I suppose) but the efficiency of the swoop-down on this bad behaviour was a bit over the top, being told that this banning was (not truthfully, the harm to their business I guess) but due to ācontamination reasonsā. All very odd and a bit iffy. Sitting there on my own: with all four of my family, feeling ODD and UNWELCOME, sitting on the public seating outside. Iām a business owner myself. I know how life can make a person act like that. I wouldnāt dare go back. Fawlty Towers of the North - at best. At worst, habitual, rude liars using this venue to abuse paying customers. Not absolutely certain who Iām dealing with here as this Google listing is for a dissolved company...

I went to return it and to get soup instead (which i also paid for) and was told the food was cooked in oil...i know it is cooked in oil everywhere it is cooked in the same way but I've never been served such awful cooked breakfast before...not only the food was awful...staff weren't helpful either...i was made to feel bad for returning the disgusting plate and paying for another meal. don't recommend the place.
Edit following owner's responce: yes, we had sandwiches, however as soon as we were told to put them away we obliged. There was no visible sign that it wasn't allowed to consume things brought from the outside. Regarding the breakfast...it is an absolute lie that half of it was consumed. My mom hardly tried the black pudding and a mushroom if i recollect correctly. Please double check with your staff before posting here. Also, I don't see how this is relevant, i never asked for my money back... i just bought a different meal. The biggest issue was the attitude of staff which is again shown in your comment below. Just read through the rest of the comments below from your other disappointed customers and realise there are changes you can make to...
