Sunday 17/8/2025. Two of us went for a few drinks, to sit outside in the sun and he needed to blow off some steam. One of the staff (lady, mid 40s, dark hair, 5.4 foot I would say) came up and quite rudely told everyone the area was closed. At this point in time my friend was in tears and clearly really upset aboutsomething. I asked this woman for "3 minutes" and some napkins for him to collect himself and save himself some embarrassment. This lady demanded we leave the area and he can sort himself out downstairs. I asked her again if she could literally give us a few minutes to save him some embarrassment. She rudely said no and carried on cleaning tables. There was only one table of two girls up there finishing their food, so we were not in her way at all and we each had one glass in front of us. Also, I am on a crutch. We then moved downstairs, I got halfway down with my friend when I turned back and went to express to her how unreasonable and rude she was. She was standing at a waiters station and I was roundly 1.5m from her. One of the girls for some reason stood up and listened to what I was saying to this woman. There was a planter box and table and chairs between all of us, so no risk of anything happening. The lady wasn't prepared to hear me out (power trip of note). I went down to see my friend, we sat in the corner close to a pool table chatting again. I then went to the bar to order a drink and this lovely young lady mentioned she can only serve me in 30min. I then went back to the pool table area and a student asked me if I wanted to play a game, which is did. After the game (probably about 30min) I went back to the bar and this ridiculously rude bar woman was there and demanded I leave, saying I tried to hit her and attack her upstairs. Which was completely untrue. (CCTV cameras are upstairs). I tried to ask her when this happened exactly and she just kept speaking and shouting over me. The student said to me this happens all the time and it doesn't help even trying to speak to them. This pathetic liar of a women then call a security lady and escorted me, a patron (39) that was not being unruly at all, out embarrassing myself and my friend yet again. This is completely unacceptable for the way we got treated and she should be accountable. (CCTV)
My friend, committed suicide and this is why I am writing this review. 3 minutes could change everything, he was so embarrassed. I'm not saying this situation was the cause. 3 minutes is what I asked for. 3 minutes would not have influenced her life at all. A 44 year old man crying is embarrassing and I wanted to avoid that. We are not students or kids she is dealing with like she might be used to (even so). She could have just been a nicer more empathetic human. She should be fired for being so careless and if she owns the place (which I very much doubt) she shouldn't be in...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars,(especially for Sophie) I would. Stepping into City Walls like entering a time capsule, but not in a charming, nostalgic way—more like stepping into a forgotten, filthy corner of the 1980s that should have stayed in the past. From the moment I walked in, I regretted every life decision that led me to this establishment.
First off, the smell. Imagine a blend of stale beer, damp carpet, and something vaguely resembling wet dog. If this place has ever seen a mop or cleaning supplies, it's been at least a decade. The sticky floors made every step an adventure, as if the pub was trying to keep me there against my will.
The service? Non-existent. The bartender looked like they were personally offended by my presence, as if I'd interrupted some very important brooding session. It took 15 minutes just to get a drink, which came with an eye roll that could have been seen from space.
Speaking of drinks, I ordered a pint, and I'm pretty sure it was half tap water. The beer was flat, warm, and tasted like sadness. The selection was as tragic as the atmosphere: one tap was broken, another had a mysterious substance oozing from it, and they were out of half the things listed on the menu. I’m convinced the wine they served had been sitting open since New Year’s Eve. Of 2019.
Now, the food. I wouldn’t feed this to my worst enemy. The "signature burger" looked and tasted like a hockey...
