Extremely Disappointing Experience at Costa Coffee
Iâve always been a fan of Costa Coffee, but my most recent visit was truly unsettling. While I was in line, I witnessed Kelly, the manager, loudly yelling at one of the employees in front of customers. It was shocking to see such behavior, and it created a tense, uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone in the cafĂ©.
The employee seemed genuinely stressed, and it was clear they were doing their best to handle the busy rush. Watching Kelly publicly berate them felt completely unprofessional and unnecessary. Itâs one thing to provide constructive feedback behind closed doors, but publicly humiliating your staff is unacceptable.
This experience completely soured my visit, and Iâm really disappointed in how things were handled. I wonât be returning anytime soon, and I sincerely hope Costa Coffee addresses this issue and ensures that their staff is treated with more respect. If I could give zero stars, I would. The service at Costa today was appalling. Long wait times on a busy Saturday were expected, but what wasnât expected was the rude and dismissive attitude from staff.
Two elderly women and I stood in line for about 30 minutes with no explanation for the delay. When we calmly mentioned the wait, we were told to âgo somewhere else.â Staff members EESHA and a male colleague were neither polite nor apologetic. No respect for elders or customers. There were no greetings or thanks, just loud sighs, plates & trays being banged, and zero regard for customers.
When the daughter of one of the elderly women returned to question the rude treatment, the staff responded poorly again. My 3-year-old showed more patience than the staff.    Read moreI have been a regular customer of Costa for many years, but I've noticed some unprofessional behavior from certain staff members at the location in Livingston, inside Next. On one occasion, I was served a completely burnt fruit cake. When I asked to have it replaced, the staff member told me that if I ordered another one, it would likely end up burnt again, just like the first. I then asked him to bake it for half the usual time instead.
In another instance, when I requested English breakfast tea, the staff member checked the teapot by putting his nose near it to determine whether it contained English breakfast or Earl Grey tea. I examined the teapot in front of him, and when he asked if everything was okay, I pointed out what he had done. However, he never apologized for his actions or offered to give me a new tea.
