I used to get coffee from Costa in St Catherines Retail Park regularly as it was convenient to me. I don't expect much from the chain just a not too awful coffee to go and keep the chat restricted to my order. It used to be passable but over the past 12 months, a couple of new faces, and a few incidents of abysmal service later, it doesn't even meet my already low expectations for a large coffee house chain but I needed my caffeine so I let some stuff and attitudes slide until this time. I ordered via the app and arrived to collect my drink, was told there was an issue with them receiving my order via the app, no big deal, I was asked to check on my app to make sure I'd placed it. I was on a call but I obliged. It showed my drink was bought and paid for but despite this the barista" was salty and slow about sorting it out. When I finally got my coffee it was lava hot and blistered my tongue on the first sip, the coffee itself was also burned and worse than usual so I had to bin it. Grabbing a quick coffee shouldn't be such a tedious experience so save your money by skipping this store or maybe go to Blend a few minutes away, their coffee is decent and their staff don't behave over...

My husband could eat a tuna panini with his coffee and I had to go hungry at lunch time on June 22, 2021 at 12:45 pm. Oh, I bought an Italian biscotti because the girl pointed out to a tray with gluten free items, and ate a little before noticing it was NOT gluten free ! I also suffer from Ulcerative colitis beside being celiac and have a UC flare up these days. If I had the energy and time, I would write to the CEO of the Company about this issue- why were gluten free and gluten items kept in one tray and pointed out to me by the girl at the till which might land me up in great health trouble now. Why work in Costa, a COFFEE shop, if you're going to get frustrated whenever a customer orders a coffee?? The batista who served me tutted at me, rolled his eyes, made a sarcastic comment to the batista behind him, made angry hand gestures, and got frustrated at me because I simply ordered the same drink as the person before me. If you hate making coffees and serving customers that much... quit... but don't take it out on the customers. I was very polite when ordering my drink so the treatment of me was unjustifiable. If I was rude, as a waitress myself obviously I would understand why the batista got like that with me, as I know it can be frustrating to handle a rude customer, however all I did was politely order a drink.
