My wife and I live and work in the middle of Perth, and we’re always on the lookout for dog-friendly spots where we can grab lunch. One of our regular choices is Ormonds on the Old High Street.
It’s a classic local pub — the kind of place clearly loved by the people who live and work nearby. There are several tables in the bar area, a dining room, and a beer garden out the back with tables, which is where we usually sit with the dogs.
What I really like about Ormonds is how straightforward it is. No fuss, no pretence — just good, honest pub food at amazing value for money. The portions are big — so big that we often can’t finish them. Whether it’s the classic mac and cheese or my personal favourite, the BLT sandwich (which is massive), you’re not leaving hungry.
Even though it’s a proper local, it’s always been welcoming. The ladies behind the bar are great, and the locals are friendly and curious. It’s one of those places that makes you feel comfortable straight away.
If you’re hungry, want a relaxed atmosphere, and like the idea of leaving full and happy — Ormonds is well...
Read moreWe had a plate of soup etc which was good value the pub itself sadly was dingy and badly in need of refurbishment it needed an internal door to keep large bar area warm as the lounge went up a few stairs to what looked like an external rear door to the premises we found the barmaid was very helpfull and we were served pretty quick. We found the table was sticky in parts and had obviously.not been cleaned prior to us being there But sadly that old bar style pub will not fetch young people in with family's or groups as premises are from the seventies and not up market enough It's in a good central position to catch to holidaymakers and passers by from the large adjacent car park and the town centre but In my opinion I would rate it...
Read moreWent out for a boozy lunch, both had scampi and chips with a small bottle of white wine. Ordered at the bar, wasn't too loud with music or people, the staff are fantastic, service is top, not waiting for your main course too long. When the food arrived, was of good portions, presentation was lovely. I loved it, finished scraping the plate, and definitely would go back to try other dishes. The food itself was beautiful, scampi was just right, the chips and salad was perfect. I wished I had tried this pub earlier as looks is not everything. 2 scampi and chips with small bottles of wine was £28, I find the cost is well worth it. Not many places that the chef comes out asking for feedback from the customer which we can't complain about...
