Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Scotland

Awful place, visited on 20/09/25 at approximately midday. Two customers in front of us with small orders. One of them was given the wrong order. I ordered two small cappuccinos without chocolate to go, I was charged for two medium but as I was in rush I did not say anything. Someone behind me was served before I received my order. The so called barista had to ask me twice if I wanted chocolate to which I replied no. The drinks were slammed on the counter with coffee dripping all over the cup. I pointed it out and she grabbed another takeaway cup and placed it inside. I commented I could not understand how badly organised this place the was considering the amount of staff on, she didn’t even have the courtesy to look at me. Having now tasted the so called cappuccinos they were watery and extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Staff are clearly not trained correctly and seem to be treating it more of a youth club...

Normally a great wee Costa I go regularly and always great experience with staff and atmosphere but this particular day I went I didn’t recognise the staff and I asked for Usual and asked if I wanted sit in or takeaway and I usually sit in so as always I said sit in and the was given paper cup and i thought maybe issue with dishwasher or something but on sitting down I opens my takeaway cup to find no chocolate and half cup of foam , I could have went next door to Tesco and got the same Costa from the machine with a sandwich and an snack for less money than this. On top of that I was the only one sitting with a takeaway cup. It’s not a big deal but if your paying near a fiver for coffee you want it at least be a full cup and not in a takeaway cup...

Extremely disappointing experience, far below the standard Costa usually maintains. The staff was rude and unfriendly, showing no interest in customer service. I was even offered a service different from the usual one, as if that was standard practice – which it clearly is not.

The premises were dirty – tables left uncleaned, floors messy, and an overall sense of neglect. Even the counter and service area looked poorly maintained and unhygienic. It felt disorganised and unprofessional.

It’s a shame to see a reputable brand like Costa being managed so poorly. A bit more attention to cleanliness, proper staff training, and basic respect for customers would go a long way. I hope the head office takes notice and addresses these...
