The food was good, but the service needs to be improved.
We arrived and informed the staff of our reservation, but they did not seem to understand or acknowledge the reservation. Two different staff kept asking me to confirm how many people were in my party despite that information being on my reservation.
We sat down at the far end of the restaurant, by the kitchen door, which meant we could be away from the noise of the groups at the front. Unfortunately, we were still disturbed by the loud shouting and screaming of those other groups, who were presumably drunk. For autistic people like me, loud shouting or screaming by others inside a confined space can be distressing.
We were not given a drinks menu and assumed that the restaurant did not have one. We were told by the person taking our order that the restaurant had "everything" regarding drinks. We were about to state which drinks we wanted when that same staff member started listing all the general drinks they had, like beers, wine and soft drinks. The staff member spoke over one shy/quiet person in my party and insisted that she order wine, even though she did not want that. The lack of a drinks menu meant we did not know how much drinks would cost us.
The staff member further confused my group by failing to clearly explain the portion difference between a side vegetable curry and a main one. The person who originally ordered the side curry felt pressured into agreeing to order a main vegetable curry because the staff member kept talking at her.
After we ordered two portions of vegetable samosas as starters, we were told minutes later that we could only have one portion. It was unclear why. We felt rushed into deciding which alternative vegetable sides we wanted because we didn't have the time or space to think, consider and discuss amongst ourselves whilst the staff member towered over and talked at us.
After we paid the bill, we were approached by the same staff member who showed me a card of some type and insisted that I tap or scan it with my phone to leave a review. I got the impression that the staff member was going to stand, wait and watch me as I did this, which I found uncomfortable. I told the staff member that I would leave a review later. I don't think it's right to tower over your customers after they've eaten to insist they leave a review on travel sites and platforms like Google Maps.
The food here is good, so I suggest ordering takeaways instead...
Read moreBooked a table for one at 5:30pm this Saturday night. Just myself looking for good grub without any fuss. Came here specifically because they advertised masala dosa - yum! Then disappointingly got told they've temporarily stopped doing it. But that's OK, I will just spend a bit more time to decide what I want to order, (except they pried me 3 times for my order within the first few minutes of being seated). The guy (presumably the manager), seemed very rushed. Which is understandable since its a busy Saturday night. But it has come across rather rude. Not a single greeting. Flat and muted tone. Slammed a plate right in front of me when I was served my meal. I heard the table sitting next to me whispering "he's a bit abrupt ain't he?!" - yes he was! He then goes round greeting other tables asking "how is your food? Would you like another drink?" while completely ignoring me. Food was just OK. Nothing to shout about. I have a suspicion this place doesn't like single cover bookings dining by themselves (lower profitability and not worth the hassle). If you don't value my business then don't take my booking in the first place. I was in and out of there within 50mins, (15 minutes was spent on waiting for them to get me my bill). Gave me the wrong bill the first time round, then had to wait around for them to fix it. I am still not convinced that I have been charged the correct amount on the second bill either, but I just paid it anyway as I was desperate to get out of there (£18.15 for a Pepsi, Chicken 65, a pilau rice with my chicken tikka masala??? I worked it out to be £16.30). Staff need to get their acts together. Won't be back.
NB: Serving 5 tubs of sauces with just one stingy poppadom is a bit disproportionate. What a waste of...
Read moreIn a word, disappointing. The price is not reflected in the quality, or indeed, the service.
We ordered Lamb Biryani, King Prawn Korma, Chicken Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala with 2x mushroom rice plus 2x garlic naans at 17.30 on 28th January.
19.00 With no status update provided by the business, we called to find out where our order was. We were told that they were "busy", had only one driver, and it would be another 10 minutes.
19.45 The order arrives.
That's 2.25 hours we waited.
The Lamb Biryani was apparently good, as was the Chicken Korma. The Chicken Tikka Masala was in an obviously watered down sauce. Not rich, not creamy as advertised. The King Prawn Korma.... ... bearing in mind, this was a nigh on £13 dish, and that's without the rice. What we received was 6 king prawns floating in a thick sauce that tasted like someone had accidently spilled half a bag of sugar into it. That's how sweet it was. I've never tasted a Korma sauce as sweet as this ever. And just to make sure, we all tried the korma sauce from the chicken dish. Completely different. It was very good.
Oh, and one of the Naan breads wasn't cooked properly (dough).
2 good dishes with 1 mediocre and 1 inedible does not inspire confidence. Our next order...
