Passing though Inverness we wanted to stop for a quick lunch, but every place we tried turned us away because we didn’t have a reservation. Frustrated and just about to give up and skip lunch we stumbled upon this ABSOLUTE GEM! The owner/chef greeted us and was so welcoming and friendly. He recommended the Dosa (and we could tell by the sparkle in his eye it was going to be a good one) so all four of us ordered a different Dosa. They came out quickly and were incredible! We also love real Thai so had to order a bowl of Tom Kah- delicious! My husband and I have traveled and lived all over the world, we love food, this will go down as a favourite meal. Forget the posh burger and cocktail joints in favour of this authentic, delicious and welcoming spot, you won’t regret it.

Pros: - Only authentic Indian restaurant in the city, others so called Indian restaurants are Bangladeshi restaurants - Sambhar has a good mix of vegetables so it is filling - The staff is very polite and helpful - You get homely feeling looking at the ambience - Right in the middle of the city center Cons- - Very expensive, the dosa costs around 12 quids which is expensive than even some of the popular London restaurants - The taste is average as it is more of a Goan restaurant than an authentic South Indian restaurant, also serve Thai so I am not too sure if they are confused about their identity as a restaurant -

Ordered lamb Kerala Chilli Masala was told 1h 30min wait. When the food arrived, possibly one of the worst things I've ever eaten, after about 4 bites I had to throw it away - meat was chewy and flavourless, got some kind of small bone stuck between my teeth for a couple of hours. I'm surprised this restaurant receives custom if that's the standard of food and service you are providing, absolutely shocking and will be telling anyone I know in Inverness to avoid entirely.

As a South indian, i was excited to come to come to this restaurant. I actually cancelled my reservation for the turkish restaurant across this place because when we parked our car i saw this restaurant, got excited and cancelled ...as there aren't many South indian restaurants in the UK in general ( let's be honest..the so called "indian restaurants" are actually Bangladeshi restaurants or Pakistani restaurants... except a few good actual indian restaurants in London ! Hence why i was heavily disappointed and frustrated with the "South indian food " served to me. I ordered dosa ( mind you it cost 10 pounds /per dosa )- which was served to me one half burnt and other half undercooked!! My idlies were not risen at all - they were fLat and not soft or spongy! I could overlook the above ..sort of.. But the worst of it was the "malabar(kerala)" fish curry. I'm not from kerala. But I've eaten at kerala restaurants and I know how kerala fish curry looks and tastes. I love kerala fish curry. But the fish curry served to me did not look or taste anything like it. It had fish in it and had indian spices so technically it is a fish curry but that's about it. It was not a MALABAR Fish curry . You can't claim it as a regional cuisine if you don't make it the authentic way. I spoke to the chef who was from malabar region and to his credit he apologised and agreed that's not how malabar curry should be. But when I asked him why he then served it to me he said" no one else had complained before"!!! He also said they had staff shortage and lack of kodampuli ( an important ingredient that contributes to the integral /essential taste for kerala/malabar fish curry- infact its the only region in india that uses that ingredient- giving the curry that gentle yummy tanginess specificto that area of india ) So my conclusion is that these guys have been getting away with serving non authentic food as most people who were eating there were not indians ... So it's their bad luck that a south indian turned up and knew what nonsense they are spouting . That's my rant over. If you're an indian going to the restaurant please expect to be disappointed... the food will have spices and...

Disappointed with food, read further for additional specifics:

Being a south Indian, We were really excited to find a south indian/Thai restaurant in the town. The Ambience was quite promising at first, but the menu was quite confusing to be honest. There was a mix and match of various different cuisines(that made us excited) to try different combination and styles of dishes. We ordered the kerala beef masala fry( this was the only okayish dish out of all), the Kerala parotta was also edible, we then ordered the ā€œrad nah with chickenā€, id have to be honest it felt like eating plastic, we didn’t have a choice but had to send this back to the kitchen, but the second version of the noodle we got back was too oily and a mess of different veggies, the other dish we ordered was palak paneer and this was very hard to taste, it was a unique version extremely poor quality paneer not even worth eating, we could not taste the palak(spinach) part of the dish, and the other dish we ordered was malabar fish curry, that was okayish, we ordered the coconut rice thinking of having some authentic south indian rice variety, but we only received a mushy rice cooked in coconut milk and sugar(this would qualify as a dessert)… Overall when we order food for 50+ pounds and don’t get served any enjoyable food worth eating, it is with heavy heart I wouldn’t...

Food was ok but the attitude of the master chef (A short man in his 40s fair skinned) was very arrogant. We ordered online at around 10.00 pm and received an email confirmation to collect food around 10.27 pm. I called and confirmed and reached the hotel at 10.30 pm and i was told it would take 30 more minutes.. when i asked the reason why i received email with collection time 10.27 pm the guy who came in from kitchen probably master chef asked me if i want my order or not in a rude manner... and told that we cannot do anything about what u receive in email as its a big order... then i asked will it be ready in 30 mins sharp? His answer was i will try... then i waited 30 minutes and got back in hotel again and ended waiting for another 30 minutes before getting my parcel.. not over yet, when i reached home it was almost 12 midnight to see that one item was missed in parcel. I had to call hotel and then i was asked to collect the refund for missing item next day after 12 noon... worst personality ever i have met in my life and never would recommend this hotel purely for the attitude of the guy who attended me.. You guys should first learn to respect customers.. the taste and time...
