2nd visit- Thur 1:30pm. Was a full cafe but snagged a table. Service was fast for the place being so busy. This meant that it was really noisy-not a complaint, more a not for those sensitive/hard of hearing. 3 types of home made soup. Had chicken & veg which was hot, not overly salty & delvious. Felt almost healing to have this. Didn’t care for white toast. Expected crusty bread.
A take away maypole, pecan brownie had a good crust, very “raw” in the gooey way. Delicious warm.
As a note this is now my go to despite if my reason for Musselburgh visit is not close by and coming from out of town. Visited on a Tue 1:30pm & stayed for 2 hrs. During this time there was a steady flow of sit in & take away customers. Staff helped with my companions walker frame & were prompt, polite & patient.
Mix of Greek food & British. ALL day breakfast. Everything is fresh. The chef even came out & spoke to each table to make sure all was satisfactory but we were never pushed or hurried away.
Falafel burger was so cool I spy on the outside but moist inside. Brioche bun & a variety of fillings, small chips made this a satisfactory belly filler.
A Halloumi salad was an even sized cut of flavours, balsamic, pomegranate seeds & Chai seeds. Side order of chips was a big bowl of crispy & hot skinny fries.
Teapot of tea & coffee. A little more on the upper price side but considering the freshness, ingredients & overall service-Muss L burg h needs more places like this.
Good drinks and cake selection. Already planned my order for my next visit.
There are two high steps in & tables are tight for those in a wheelchair or...
Read moreHello again. We popped back in yesterday and decided to sit out side,as the weather was nice, I ordered a lentil soup with chunky bread and my partner ordered the minestrone with chunky bread, firstly both soups arrived with a slice of thin brown toast. We ordered the main course, mine was the felafel, and my partner ordered the cheese toasties, there was no way that the small table could take this amount of food in one go, as there was drinks on it too. So when the waitress initially arrived with our ordered food ,the main came first, and we hadn't even seen or tasted the soup.so the waitress took our main back. To the kitchen, and we waited a further 10 mins for our soup. The lentil soup was warm and flavourless, but the minestrone was nice, pity we hadn't the chunky bread to accompany it. Anyway we finished the soup, and waited 10 mins on our main to arrive, and when it did, I noticed one of the falafels was chopped up and opened for what ever reason? They where very hard, dry and lacked flavour. The dish was well presented though. But after one small bite enough was enough. The thing is our first visit was so nice we even gave a generous tip. Unfortunately this second visit was certainly not what I expected. Plenty of other...
Read moreNOT CHILD or single parent friendly at all! Came here with my little boy in his buggy and shopping, no space inside so sat outside. Extremely rude male manager came out and said I had to go in and order and pay as only disabled people got table service. I asked what I would do with my child/buggy and shopping but he said NO you have to go inside. Walked away being rude! Would NOT record you have small children or buggy! Very in child friendly. Would never go back! I was given a menus when I went into the cafe, at no point did any member of staff tell me I had to come in and order! And as for your comment about Musselburgh being a safe place to leave your shopping and bags, I'm not sure you know...
