We found this little cafe on the way out of the city. I would recommend a stop here for breakfast since its on the way to Glencoe and its got a really hearty breakfast that will keep you going for a while as you hike. It was full of locals, they knew people by name and by order and they don't rush you in your meal or to order. They even charged our phones for us! There isn't a lot of parking space but half parking on the pavement seems to be the norm here.
The staff was really super sweet and make good recommendations on what to have especially if you have allergies. The food was really good and I recommend the full breakfast with the haggis. The portions are super large and its hard to finish them but they are worth every bite. I think you can choose smaller options, I would recommend not getting the square sausage here since its a little on the tough side and the black pudding is a little over salted- hope this was just for my dish alone since I really do like this little place and I would honestly return when Im back...
Read moreI got a roll and square sausage and tattie scone and a roll and black pudding with tattie scone, red sauce on both as per standard protocol. I enjoyed every aspect of both rolls. Even the rolls themselves were tasty and of good quality. I don't know if they were bought in or packaged, but it was none of your lower quality branding. Smashed both rolls into obliteration. I chewed them and swallowed. Absolutely dismantled them. I told my girlfriend I was going to destroy them and I certainly did. I am a man of my word. Anyway if you live within the vicinity of the place or passing by and are hungry I'd recommend going here. I wouldn't travel an ultra long distance for them though. Like if you live in Aberdeen or something. I am sure you can find a place almost as good if you live too far away. This...

Breakfast in the Hyndland Cafe is not a high dining, romantic chic, or hipster wet dream territory, but then if doesn't seek to be and frankly if that's what you're into then walk to the door, throw a stone, grab your breakfast from whoever's window you just broke; the West End has dozens such places and a cafe like Hyndland is a breath of traditional air (is that a saying?)
There's quite a lot on offer, from Scots breakfast through a plate-spillingly large veggie option (fat lads can be veggie too, thanks for providing) to pancakes, eggs with hollandaise, scramblers on toast and more.
The girls behind the counter are nice as can be, attentive and helpful. A lovely touch in a 'burb mostly staffed by hungover students on a...
