I ordered two fish suppers to take away. Another customer came in having ordered by phone is also waiting. His order is first to be boxed and chef sprinkles vinegar on the fish, at which customer says NO - No vinegar. So fish gets placed back into the warmer. A while passes and the member of staff who took my payment comes to box up my two fish suppers. He gets the fish previously sprinkled with vinegar, to which I say that fish has vinegar. Only to be told no it hasn't. I say it has go ask the chef. The chef confirms it was previously sprinkled with vinegar. Now two lovely looking golden battered fish have been sitting all this time in the warmer and I am expecting to get them. However, I get two fish from the other end as the member of staff says "fresh from the frier". So into the car and now the disappointment kicks in. The fish I have been sold look overcooked, as if refried. Dark colour not appetising. My wife takes a piece of hers and inside the batter I can see the fish is about as thick as a pound coin and she complains it is tough and awfully chewy. Mine is also chewy and not at all tasty. Now home and we both have an awful aftertaste of the cooking oils. We score ouf fish and chips on a scale of 1 to 10. I am sorry we will not be back and rate this as a 1 being, that is one of the lowest scores awarded. Looking for a good fish supper? My advice is...
Read moreI have a severe food allergy and thought that as I have eaten here in the past, it would be okay to do so again. I stood in the queue and watched them pour cheese over a baguette, not over the cheese tub but over the lettuce. I explained that I that I had an allergy and had wanted a sandwich, but after watching them being made, it would be unwise, and I'd get chips instead. Well, this member of staff then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't eat there because of cross contamination and made it clear I was not welcome. I had to get other work colleagues their order, and a lovely boy did try to help by explaining they have gluten free and everything that they do for gluten which doesn't seem to apply with any other food allergies or intolerance. I got my work colleagues order and when handing it over another server points out it contains cheese and I told him it's not for me, I've been told I can't eat here he said that's right it says on the board. To be clear, the board does have a may contain on the board but doesn't say we don't cater for allergies. They have vegan options listed, and I had made an order in my head and don't expect to be able to eat everywhere. But if you can't change your gloves, don't take care when filling your sandwiches, then can't care about customers. My lovely colleagues have said that they won't go there now after...
Read moreTook my Gran out for a family meal here while I was up visiting, there was 5 of us dining in total. Arriving at the restaurant there didn't seem to be any disabled spaces, luckily the area at the front door was clear so I was able to get parked somewhere where my Gran wouldn't need to walk very far. The waiters were friendly and the whole restaurant was nice and clean albeit a bit chilly in the month of November when I went. After we ordered the food came in a reasonable time, the proportions were satisfactory and it tasted really good, however the service after that was lacking. It was almost like we didn't exist once the food was on the table, there wasn't the usual "is everything alright" you usually get at a restaurant and when we were done no one came to clear the plates. We had to pile them at the end of the table while we had our coffee which I might add we had to go to the counter and ask for because like I said no one was waiting on us. The price didn't seem too bad although I wasn't the one paying so it was even better for me but yeah. I'd say if you just want a meal and then go then this might work out for you, however if you're looking for a dining experience you might want to try different waiters. My Gran still enjoyed her...
