Had a meal here tonight. There was 4 of us, first of all service was excellent, order taken quickly & not a long wait for food, friendly staff. But they had ran out of cider & only stocked one type of apple cider which is poor these days, most restaurants have adapted so modern fruit ciders, I shared a bottle of red wine in with my dad instead which was lovely. Popadoms to start with lovely sauces, for main course I had butter chicken tikka which was 10 out of 10! Very tasty & the chicken was excellent! We all shared chips, rice & plain Nan which again was excellent! They came out with warm plates which is another nice touch. But unfortunately the lamb korma & lamb makini were not great! Sauces were both excellent but the lamb was very tough & fatty which is a shame & not expected. Had the lamb been good like other Indian restaurants in the area & also a regular one we use in Aberdeen then this place would have scored top marks. We voiced our complaints to the waiter & on leaving they gave us a Complimentary chicken korma & pilau rice which is a nice gesture. I have previously been here for the buffet on a Wednesday night which was excellent & I would most certainly return again but advise being very cautious about ordering lamb dishes unless...
Read moreThis is our first time in Scotland. Our arrival was later than planned due to airline mishaps. I had been advised that many places closed earlier than we were used to back in the U.S. My wife and I sought out after a meal late in the evening. Everywhere was closed - except for Nawabi Voj. It was near closing time, and we were the only ones there when we entered. In spite of it being so late, we were openly welcomed. They prepared us 2 meals and also vegetable samosas. This food was amazing! Everything tasted delicious and was thoroughly satisfying. We discovered also 2 thin crisps (like very thin tortillas) - we don't know what they are called, but they were out of this world! It was the best tasting crisp I've had of all time! I can't say enough about how fabulous and tasty the food was. The hospitality was just as rich. We enjoyed our conversation as much as we did the food. If you're in Stonehaven, this is one place that you absolutely MUST try while...
Read moreWe’d tried all the Indian restaurants in Stonehaven and all are very good. This one is easy to miss as the restaurant is on the first floor with a discrete door to the street. Bear this in mind if you struggle with stairs, in which case we’d recommend takeout. We’d been planning to try this restaurant for a while and we were not disappointed. The quiet calming Indian music and friendly welcome was a great start. The restaurant is airy and spotlessly clean with starched white tablecloths and proper napkins. Candle heated trays were brought to keep our dishes hot - a nice touch. My chicken madras was the best in memory, quite spicy as I like it. With pilau rice, tarka daal and a garlic naan, there was enough for two. My wife enjoyed a chicken tikka masala as did our two companions and we had enough left over to take out for another light meal. We all agreed this was the best Indian meal we’d had in a very long time. And the price was very...
