The food is very bad, like a low-quality takeaway. I wish I had read all the other negative reviews before I wasted my money. The chicken tikka masala is bright pink and tastes like a sugary korma. The samosas are the tiny ones you buy in a frozen multipack, not the real ones you get from quality restaurants. The food overall is not at all worth the money when you compare it to anywhere that has quality food (like Obsession of India or Mother India in Glasgow). The atmosphere is very poor and service quite rude. It seems to be popular only because there’s very little choice locally. I was frustrated with myself that I spent the money I’d spend on a nice dinner at a good restaurant for chippy-level Indian food. Also, why would we be seated with a toddler (I said “six and we need a high chair”) and still not be offered a high chair, with the man seating us disappearing instantly, then having to look everywhere and get attention in order to have a place for her to sit? I have never, ever been to a restaurant that failed to offer a child seat to a toddler, let alone after a request. The service was genuinely surprising - instead of asking for the menu back, the server physically ripped it from my dad’s hands, shocking him - he wasn’t expecting it. He has arthritis in his hands and it hurt him, and the whole table saw it. I was so embarrassed that I brought him with me. Altogether a visit like I’ve honestly never had at any restaurant. The waiter who was insanely rude to us (as many other reviews note) was friendly to the locals. Very strange experience and like other reviewers, we almost walked out -...
Read moreWhat a lovely place, with great (really great) food and friendly service! We were urgently scouting for a place to eat on a Monday night and came across Tandoori Haven. A very attractive restaurant, with glittering lamps and white table cloths. We were warmly greeted and taken to a comfortable booth where we were presented with menus and treated to the beginning of what was courteous service the whole night. While browsing the extensive menu we asked for assistance in picking out some dishes which they were happy and quick to offer (making one dish milder with extra cream). We had papadom and chutney to start and vegetable palak, roshni and pakora. Everything was spot on. From the authentic tangy achar, mango, onion and mint chutneys, to puffy crisp papadom, the just right mild palak to garlicky roshni everything was high quality and delicious. My super picky eater loved the pakora and even enjoyed the palak. The adventurous eater who doesn't love spicy yummed their way through the mint chutney and palak with garlic naan. I was very pleased with not only the just right level of garlic in the roshni but also that all the vegetables tasted fresh and still retained their flavours within the dish. The naan was big, flavorful and soft. The service was both impeccable but also kind and friendly. They seemed to know what we needed and offered it at every step. We will definitely be back to Tandoori Haven...
Read moreWe were there on a Saturday night it was very busy and had a lot of carry out trade both phone in and passing. The Service was slow but consistent, our starter course was offered to three separate tables before a waiter asked what we had ordered, the starter arrived luke warm, the Pakora had no sauce, my fish dish came with a salad which was warmer than the fish. The main dishes arrived with much ceremony, but again disappointed, there were two nan breads but neither were Peshware which we had ordered, the curry was ok, nothing special, the tandoori mixed grill was dry over cooked and much of it pretty tough, probably due to the amount of time it took to get it the order to the table. All in all not what we expected from this much touted restaurant, even pretty basic restaurants in Glasgow offer better quality service and food at lower prices. A Cobra Zero at £3.40 per bottle added little to the meal but gaves us something to do whilst waiting for anything to arrive whilst being stared at by the under performing staff. This may just have been an off night for this seemingly popular venue it I will not be repeating the experience...
