This place is classicly well known in Glasgow. Genuinely, one of the best places to eat if your after a home cooked style desi munch. I have been here 15+ times. Honestly reviewing they have had days where the food can be better BUT when these guys perform it rivals alot of top tier places. The reason the food is a 5 is because they will genuinely make the food to spec, it will be delicious and instructions are relayed specifically. Theres a manager that has been working here for some time, hes good at what he does, is very respectful, sharp and it all shows. However, apperances and some customer service aspects need slightly improving. I.e., proactiveness. I have had a range of dishes here but standardly as a rule its good to stick to the classics. This place is not 'lets try something different'. Its lets get an amazing classical balti or tandoori curry. Never had a really long wait whilst ive been and if there are any issues they get resolved reasonably.

Edited my previous 5 star review!! Visted village curry house on 11th of April with my family and the place has just gone downhill. To start off with the waiters have no clue in regards to the food. Their attitude and arrogance while serving customers was completely unacceptable. This was once our go to place for Indian food in Glasgow but I will never step foot in this place again or recommend it to anyone again. The portion sizes have decreased considerably and curry's are loaded with just oil. There was literally 4 pieces of meat in eat dish at £9.95. Yeah 4! We ordered mango lassi and it came warm. We asked for the waiter to add ice and he just mumbled and walked away. Not sure what's happened to this place but avoid it if your looking for good Indian food in Glasgow. Its just not worth it anymore. You'll be better of going to your local kebab shop for a curry! Just angry at how bad the service and food was yesterday and that no one gave a toss!!

The place is large and looks exquisite but really was dissapointed by the service and portion sizes of the foods. Quantity doesn't serve one person properly for the price. The mixed kebabs are plentiful. But the curries, tikkas, and the speciality dishes are quite less for even a single person. The spiciest of all tikkas didn't quite taste well. The keema naan, and garlic naan doesn't dissapoint, but the plain naan, and cheese naan does. The biryani was the biggest dissapointment of all in taste and quality. Writing this review after trying the neighbouring restaurants I'd rather never try visiting this place again. The service was rather non-existent. Servers didn't pay attention, and confused about the items themselves, and just tossed cutlery on the tables and left. The place looks understaffed and hence the service was dissapointing as well.

in reply to sanah above - I was there ata the new Village on the same day as you -

you did not have to wait 45 mins for your table because I was watching you from my table all the tables in that section were already set-up with tablecloths, cutlery, napkins and glasses if you were waiting for your food for 1.5 hour then what were you eating during that time? I had a good view of your tables from my seat all the guest went home hungry ??? how much food do you and your guests need to eat before they stop being hungry? starters, main course and dessert and you are still hungry? you should have ordered more food instead of trying to save money!!!! how is this a Village fault and how is it worth complaining about??? with the amount of food you ordered, why did you need a burger and chips? are you sure you paid £8.85 for it? when you go as a big party (from personal experience) then each item is not detailed individually on the bill so did the bill say burger and chips £8.85? if the chips were burnt then why did you not complain at the point of receiving them? when it was time to pay the bill you and your guests were complaining very loudly so why did you eat the burnt chips? the waiters were not rude as if you noticed, the restaurant was very very busy that night and there were other customers to serve also not just your party the tables were already set with napkins so how many napkins do you need? you gave such a bad review because there was a lack of napkins? if there was a hair in the food before you went there then why did you bring your party? I would never go somewhere with so many people if a friend had already warned me away. also, I have never found a hair in my food there and the same is for anyone I know who has gone to the Village so are you sure it came with the food or did it fall from your friend's head?

I don't normally write reviews about places I go to but I have been going to the Village for years and I was quite upset and disgusted to read your review especially as I was there that night. I enjoyed my dinner. It was very good, very authentic and tasty. I enjoyed the company of my lovely wife and friends. The service and setting was wonderful - I much prefer the new Village.

But - the atmosphere was terrible, not because of the staff, management or location but because of your party and the noise they were making. If you invite people to a party and they bring children then you should exercise some control over them. It is not the staff who should have the duty to tell you and if they do then that does not translate as rudeness in my book.

I give this place 5 stars because their only mistake was allowing your party to come inside but they were not to know you would have a full meal and still leave such comments as this. Really it is uncalled for.

I recommend people to try this place...

Went for a meal this evening as we live nearby and have always wanted to try.

Service was quite awful. As soon as we entered the restaurant the waitress or manager shouted at us from her desk asking if we were looking for a table.. I asked if we should come to her instead of shouting from the door but she continued to converse with us shouting from a distance. Very strange.

Another waitress took us over to our table but initially sat us at a table that hadn’t been cleaned or set yet, we hesitated and ANOTHER waitress came over and told us to sit at the next table that was already set. Why we weren’t sat here first I have no idea. The restaurant was hardly busy.

We ordered drinks and food, drinks took a while to arrive and we had to ask for water twice. Water arrived and there was a small spider in my glass…. yuck. I noticed it while drinking and got the attention of a waiter who simply replied “Ok, do you want new water?” ….. I mean? Really?!

Food was good and came quickly. Nothing amazing but nothing terrible either.

Waitress that cleared our plates asked if she could “have our plates” expecting us to hand them all to her. The staff also dropped cutlery on someone in our party twice.

Staff could really do with some training, or maybe being paid better so that they might out in a little more effort!

Will definitely opt for takeaway next time as the food was...

I ordered food today at 9.20pm, food did not arrive till 11.20pm

I rang village curry house three times, only to be told food will arrive any second, then in the next phone call, three minutes, in my final call to them (where now 45 minutes had passed, and we had been fasting all day) clearly annoyed at not getting food at the right time, I told them I don't want the food, and to cancel it. 15 minutes later, the delivery driver buzzes my door, (in the process waking up my baby) and casually tells me he was late because the road was closed. Which road?

I ordered a Ben and Jerry's chocolate fudge ice-cream. What did I receive? Some sort of melted caramel ice cream in a takeaway tub, scooped in!!! To make matters worse the food is cold and tiny portions. I paid £10.95 for a tandoori lamb MAIN. What I received was tandoori lamb with 5 small tikkas.

I am really disgusted and disappointed with the lack of care for customers. In the past food has been late, but I ignored it as the food is good. Today has taken the mick! Horrible food. Horrible service. The person on the phone lacks manners.

And to think I keep going back. Not any more.

Who gives BEN AND JERRY'S ICE CREAM IN A TAKEAWAY TUB???? IT ISN'T EVEN BEN AND JERRY'S.

I AM FUMING. Fasting all day, then to have horrible food and what I was looking forward to most,...
