Can’t fault any of the other staff apart from the older gentleman with grey hair wearing suit …. Unfortunately I had news late at night that a loved one had passed so was trying to leave hotel as fast as possible to make the journey home the lifts was out of service and broke so I was frantically up and down stairs getting lost just trying to leave as soon as possible …. when I tried to leave the main entrance a male staff member followed me shouting I’m walking across wet concrete and I shouldn’t be exiting this way……. I explained I wasn’t aware and the lift was broke from then on forward he continued to shout over and over in a frustrated Angry manner and shake his head in an aggressive tone “there’s big signs everywhere” I said I didn’t know or see I’m sorry …. he just continued to huff and shake his head loudly stating there’s big signs everywhere how didn’t you see them ? while clearly showing signs of anger and shaking his head repeatedly making it very clear there was big signs everywhere I made him aware I’ve just lost a loved one and I’m trying to desperately leave he ignored me and just marched me to the back exit I left in my taxi back home in uncontrollable tears even the taxi driver was shocked at how distraught I was I would not stay here again for the simple fact of how poorly this individual spoke to me while I was in a distressed vulnerable upset state I have never in my entire years been spoken to of any member of staff in any establishment the way he spoke to me after the news i just received I am disgusted and so shocked and disappointed you would think hotel guests would be respected and treated pleasantly even more so after confiding bad news and the reason I missed the signs as I was frantically trying to leave I felt so small belittled and disrespected this is the first review I’ve ever left on google as i am utterly shocked and appalled I’ve actually had to take my time to right this review. When you’ve just been told a loved one is no longer here the last thing you need is hotel staff belittling you and treating you as such I will definitely be following this up as I’m in absolute disbelief at the poor attitude disrespect and tone of this one staff member and will 100-% be making this known and following this up further I am absolutely disgusted. Awful awful poor...

The complaints raised by other guests are entirely accurate. The saving grace of this hotel are the staff, they are mostly friendly, kind and helpful.
The property feels tired and neglected, with plaster peeling from the walls and carpets that are worn to the point of being threadbare. Noise from other guests carries easily through the walls, and outside noise is also noticeable — though that’s to be expected in the city centre. The surrounding area doesn’t add to the appeal, being dotted with abandoned buildings and littered streets. Inside, the lifts are either out of order or have such long queues — sometimes 20 people deep — that they’re hardly worth waiting for. The lift lobbies and hallways are dimly lit, leaving an unwelcoming, almost gloomy atmosphere. Breakfast was passable, though the range could be expanded given how busy the hotel was. Having guests cut into unwrapped loaves of bread themselves felt unhygienic. At £300 per night, the stay represents poor value for money. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel — or Glasgow itself. Dot-Point Review • Hotel condition: Tired, run-down, plaster falling from walls, threadbare carpets. Clean ish sort of. • Noise: Audible from both other guests and outside. • Location: Surrounded by abandoned buildings and filthy streets. • Lifts: Out of service or extremely long queues (up to 20 people). One lif out of 3 working during our stay. • Atmosphere: Lift lobbies and hallways are dark and depressing. • Breakfast: Acceptable but limited variety; self-cut loaves unhygienic. • Value: Poor — £300 per night is excessive. • Overall recommendation: Would not recommend the hotel...
Read morePositives: on the whole clean, modern, professional staff, gym was brilliant and even had a squat rack and leg press (horizontal plate), bed was large and comfortable, nice toiletries, coffee machine, ironing board and iron, hanging space for clothes, large TV, window that opens, mini fridge, WiFi seemed good||Negatives: room was very, very cold, the water pressure was only just adequate, small mugs and odd tasting tea/water, TV casting did not work, the hairdryer is one of those stupid contraptions where you have to hold the button down to use it, which causes an achy hand and difficulty using a brush simultaneously, room service was very overpriced and not good - chicken breast and chips - chips cold and dry, small portion and generally underwhelming and no salt, sauces etc brought up and the lady had gone by the time I realised so would have been very cold by the time I asked. ||Overall, I would stay here again but would need to say something about the chill. There is an air con thermostat type thing on the wall but even up to 32° it did zilch. I woke up cold and it was cold after a shower. I stayed two nights, the first night it was noisy and I could hear sirens, motorbikes etc but I feel asleep. When I woke up I realised I hadn’t shut the slider so that was my fault because the next night I barely heard anything. The gym was one of the best at a hotel. Dumbbells up to 30kg, squat rack with plenty of plates, a machine I’d never seen which did back, shoulders all sorts in different modes, pelotons, and a back room for core/stretching - and it didn’t have that awful musty smell that gyms often do. Can recommend the pasta restaurant close by...
