Chez Moi — Restaurant in Sefton

Where can I start?! This place is a hidden gem in Southport! The owner took so much pride over his establishment and it could tell! So friendly and entertaining. Kind, considerate and professional. On walking into this restaurant, you just feel as though you are abroad. Having lived in the south of France for many years, I was dubious at ordering the mussels for a starter. We all went for them and wow!! The same as when in France. Absolutely delicious and the portion sizes are huge! Bread was served for free. The mussels in cream and white wine sauce were cooked to perfection! The mains we had were 3 x steak with chips and peppercorn sauce and a carbonara. Again, steak cooked perfectly and was beautifully tender. The chips was yummy and the sauce was the best we’ve tasted with a hint of brandy. The carbonara.. also the best tasted. We’ve eaten in thousands of restaurants, and this was one of the best. The deserts were homemade and simply divine. Caramel chocolate cake was soft, fluffy and tasted wow!! The profiteroles again were the best we’ve ever had. The lovely owner went above and beyond to make all of his guests feel welcomed, wined and dined. Also we were shocked at how reasonably priced it was! When we return to Southport, we will absolutely be back! Thank you for the best evening we have had in a while. Well! I dont write reviews really. But I had to for chez Moi. We ordered tempura prawns and spicey chicken wing to start.

I honestly have to say they are the best chicken wings from a takeaway meal I have ever had. The prawns are also very tasty. Maybe would like the prawns a bit more crispy, however I expected this as its a takaway.

We also ordered the mixed sea food pasta and a side of chips for our main. Chips are like chunky home made chips, which we thoroughly enjoyed and the flavour of the fish in the pasta was totally to our taste. However if me and my partner had some constructive criticism we would say the pasta itself needed more flavour. We couldn't taste the fish in the actual pasta dish.

Being a home cook enthusiast I would expect that taste throughout the dish.

Overall I would say this takaway was pretty outstanding and we shall almost definitely be returning and cant wait to try another dish.

All I can say is I'm extremely dissapointed. Saw good reviews on here but I dont know how they have got them unless they are having a very bad day. Had a starter of Calamari which was really tasty but didnt come with the Rocket Salad as described. I thought nothing of that, but then I got the main course. Chicken and Mushroom Risotto. Im not exagerating when I say it literally had no taste at all to it, as if it had been made with water not stock. Also very underseasoned. I couldn't eat it because it was that bland, so my partner said she would share her Seafood Linguini with me as she didnt want to see me go hungry. Neither of us could eat that either. No taste at all to it, the Pasta was well overcooked and the Mussels in the dish hadn't been cleaned either so the whole dish was full of grit.
